Description: Gilbey's Restaurant in Bournemouth is situated in the Liston Hotel which is two minutes from the Cliff Top Gardens in Boscombe Spa. The large open restaurant with polished oak floor and wall murals of Edwardian days on the pier compliments the cosy bar and entrance hall with original features dating back to the turn of the century. Our food is modern English/French with some influences from the rest of the World. “Little treasure trove!”
Reviewed March 2, 2013

We were looking for somewhere to eat and thought we would try this as it was highly recommended on trip advisor.
The reviews were not wrong! The food is lovely, the service is great and if you are in the vicinity we cannot recommend this enough!
A wonderful restaurant and if we were in Bournemouth again, not only would we eat here again, but we would most definitely stay at the hotel.
The only suggestion for improvement we could make would be to slow down the intervals between courses.

“Service Leader”
Reviewed March 1, 2013

If you want to know how it is done dine at Gilbey's Restaurant. The service is second to none and the food is superb. I have eaten at the restaurant on several occasions and it never fails to deliver. From the moment you walk in the door to the time you leave you can expect to be treated like a VIP. The decor is unusual but does not detract from the experience. It is the best eaterie in town and I will be going back time and time again. The restaurant should wear its gold rating with pride!

“That's what I call a Sunday Lunch”
Reviewed February 24, 2013

Gilbey's Restaurant inside the Liston Hotel is a little gem - I had seen the reviews and was surprised at the number of excellent ratings. Well now we have eaten there I know why and can only add another excellent rating! The staff are welcoming and very attentive , the food was very high standard, all 3 courses and good value at £24. You could see things were right, every plate from every table was mopped clean it must be the easiest place to do the washing up in the country. I would certainly recommend it , the roast beef we had was perfectly cooked and the roast potatoes will stay in the memory for a long time. The desserts were equally superb , we had the rhubarb creme brûlée and the passion fruit & strawberry parfait which would not have been out of place in a starred restaurant!

“What a surprise!”
Reviewed February 23, 2013

We only visited here as a result of searching for restaurants in TripAdvisor. I've lived 13 years literally 3 minutes away from this place and didn't know it existed.

What a treat!

Despite the slightly dated décor in the bar area, you are greeted by an open fire and warm friendly staff for pre-drinks and nibbles.

Once shown through to the 1920's seaside themed restaurant which is bright and clean, your amuse bouche arrives along with a selection of home cooked breads. The food was truly excellent. We had the starter plate which was a little of each starter on the menu and then the trip of meats. The food was fantastic. All this for £30 each, you cant go wrong.

You really must pay a visit for a truly wonderful, relaxed evening. Just ignore the slightly dated décor and you are in for a true treat.
