We went to the Cumberland having seen the Art Deco exterior and a got good deal for B&B+Dinner. The first impression you get at reception is the lavish Art Deco interior which carries right through the ground floor.
Staff were warm, friendly and helpful, we were offered assistance with luggage but it was not required. We had a third floor rear facing room overlooking the car park and suburbia. An upgrade to sea-view was available if we had wanted it. The room was of a good basic standard,
Good comfortable double bed, double wardrobe and shelving, desk, chair and foot-stall. En-Suite bathroom spacious with bath/shower-mixer and curtain, everything was spotless with nice towels, soap dispensers and plenty of hot water(have to let it run a bit). It was a quiet location, no traffic noise etc, one could just hear some ventilation hum but it did not concern a light sleeper like me. Nice tea making facilities and a good TV.My Wife would have liked a bit more Art Deco though. Breakfast was one of the best we've had. Excellent selection, a piping hot Full English and all you can eat and drink. The set Evening dinner with 3 course choices was really good quality with a fair choice of wines on offer. Table service was excellent.
Did not use the outside pool due to the cold. Facilities can be used in the sister Hotel next door.
From the hotel it's a 10 min walk to the beach, 20 min to town center and 25 min to Boscom.
The No 33 Bus goes from the Hotel once an hour.

Well where do we start.

When we first saw the hotel I knew it was where i wanted to have our special day.

The setting was amazing!!

Lisa was our wedding co ordinator and she was extremely helpful throughout the planning nothing was ever too much trouble and as the wedding approached she kept me calm :) with last minute things that came up.

So on to our day, I can only discribe it a absoultley amazing, the staff exceeded expectation nothing was too much trouble all were attentive and helpful to all of our guests!!!taking things to our rooms for us etc.

The food was phenomenal, our wedding breakfast ( during which the staff guided us through as we had no idea how to cut a cake haha) the eveing buffet and breakfast me and my new hubby also had an eveing meal in the ventena bar on Sunday eveing that's was also fabulous!!

Our room was amazing due to the weather we had on the day, we had our photos done in our room can't wait to see them. Our view was brilliant.

I didnt want the weekend to end!! And can't wait to visit again and become regular!!

We had a very good deal for dinner, bed and breakfast through Travelzoo, so slightly wary of making any complaints. The interior of the ground floor rooms is very much OTT Art Deco in black, silver and pink , my wife loved it. The bed was very comfortable, but the people in the room upstairs were noisy, which is a problem in an older building. The bedroom was at the back and was adequate in size, very clean and had a good shower, but don't chance one in the morning as our water was cold. Breakfast was very good and the tabled'hote we had at dinner was OK. There were four or five choices for each course with vegetarian options, but I thought by ordering Chicken Madras it would be spicy. It was more like a chicken casserole, no kick in it at all. My wife had the vegetarian options and they were very good with plenty of it. Staff very polite and helpful.

We popped into The Cumberland for a coffee one day, looked around and booked for Xmas And New Year. We Had a really good time. The friendliness and service of all the staff was extremely good. The food was excellent, always hot and very well cooked, no soggy veg or overlooked meat or fish. Special mention must go to Alex at reception for his super efficient help with our room arrangements. Also to Andrea the maintenance man who was fantastic and helped us out 3 times. And finally a very very special mention to Solange who was our really sweet, lovely and very efficient waitress. We will return many times for our fix of sea air. Thank you all so much for making our stay so good. Rita and Keith.

I booked this hotel as a winter break for my wife and I, we motorhome all summer and it is nice for her to be waited on for a change. I was looking for a break and found this on trip advisor, I telephone the hotel at about 2230 one evening and had the good fortune to talk to a lovely helpful receptionist "Tyne" she really recommended the Cumberland as being the flagship of the Oceana groups three Bournemouth hotels, and everything she told me was correct, an excellent ambassador for the company.
We arrived on a wet and windy Sunday 27th January 2013, and were greeted with a very warm welcome, check in was efficient and we were directed to our room.
Our first impressions were very good of the hotel in general, spotlessly clean, warm, and friendly. We went for our evening meal in the Mirrabelle and were satisfied with well cooked, piping hot food served on hot plates and excellent service. My wife is a vegetarian and was pleased to be offered good home cooked dishes every evening, not just a " that,ll do after thought" she really enjoyed her meals. Whilst the food was nice I felt it was a little overpriced at £27.00 for three courses (the regular price) also I thought the wines a touch expensive at £17 for a bottle of house red/ white/ or rose, consequently I never ordered any, had they been priced £12-£13 I would have had a bottle at every dinner.
Breakfast was a buffet affair, with everything you could possibly want, freshly cooked and continually topped up, a full English, cereals, toast, croissants, pastries etc etc as much as you wanted which certainly satisfied.
I really must comment on the staff and service at the Cumberland, it was exceptional, I felt that all of the staff had been hand picked to very high standards, efficient, courteous and polite without exception but never over the top or patronising. I could not pick one person as outstanding because they all were, every nationality imaginable but all exceptionally good.
We were so delighted with the hotel that we extended our stay by a further two nights an made a week of it.
Location was excellent, car parking was generally adequate (wedding on the Saturday made it a bit tight) but rest of week was fine. I swam at the sister hotel and that was fine, lovely warm pool, jacuzzi could have been better, the sauna was the dry type.
Bad points ????? Not really any bad points, but some things could be improved on. The mattresses in our room were definitely at the end of their lives and needed replacing, the provision of "toppers" made them acceptable but only just. I have already mentioned food and drink prices, I definitely think that lower pricing would generate higher sales and profits.
Really these are the only points I can be critical of, and I can honestly say I look forward to returning here again.
