The staff on reception are unhelpful, ie my husband asked if a major football match would be screened in the hotel, the reply was dont know.,dont ask me, We left our lights on the car in error and a fellow guest requested that we be advised. this did not happen we found out ourselves mutch later. The breakfast whilst abundant is of the cheapest quality, the rooms have not been updated since the early 70s and i think that is also the last time the windows where cleaned. no shower only bath, wonky hand painted broken chairs in bedroom and curtains hanging on for dear life by few hooks left. go to a travel lodge. would not return here if given free night.

Having jjust returned from this hotel I was told by the taxi driver that in fact the hotel is in administration now! It's still showing a 3 star AA rating but in fact this was withdrawn last year. The budget room should not be let to humans they're beyond belief. The upgrades weren't a lot better. The lift gives you some idea of what you're about to go to as its so grotty.
It's only saving grace were the helpful restuarant staff and in fact the food was quite good. However the bedrooms were terrible.

We have enjoyed our stay very much. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. We did stay in an executive room, which we got on a late booking. The room and en-suite were clean, the bed comfortable and sheets clean. The meals at night were great value, as if you booked before 5.30pm you got a very good three course meal and coffee for £14.95 per person. They were so good we did not go anywhere else to eat.

We stayed here overnight over the Easter weekend so it was fine, but I probably wouldn't recommend this place for a long stay. The hotel could do with a refurb, but was clean and comfortable. Was a bit put off by the noise made by staff talking very loudly outside the our room window, and not sure why they decided it would be a good idea to turn on EVERY radiator in the hotel - it was like a sauna in there!! Breakfast was included in the rate and adequate. Parking is limited but we managed to get a space even though we arrived in the evening. The beach is a short walk away which is a plus.

Had to wait for the rooms to become available (group booking so all keys were handed out at the same time - we got there early). We sat in the bar and had snacks and drinks - good service and reasonably priced.

Room was fine - clean bedding, plenty of hot water and towels, loads of storage space, tv, tea & coffee, hairdryer, trouser-press and thick curtains so it was nice and dark! Sea view between the buildings opposite. Only thing I could fault was a cracked sink. On our first visit the wooden windows needed replacing, on subsequent visits the improvements have been really noticeable! We've had a different room on each occasion and all have been fine.

Dance floor and ball-room really good, bar was open all evening, even a water-cooler in the corner! Service in the Dining Room was excellent, our group had silver service in the evenings and on Sunday lunchtime - plenty of food and several choices on the menu. The Pear Crumble was delicious! The buffet style breakfast was hot and plentiful - everything from porridge to bacon and eggs. Toast, tea and coffee delivered to the tables.

Its a typical sea-side hotel - a few creaking floorboards and loads of corridors - if you want 4* then go somewhere else! If you want a hotel where the manager and staff go out of their way to be friendly and helpful, then come here!

It is 20 plus years since we last stayed at this hotel, so when we were invited to attend a dance weekend there we did some research here on this site. In all the times that I have used this site to do research I have never seen so many bad reviews for a specific hotel. Nevertheless because so many of our friends were going we said yes.

On arrival, we did notice that the exterior could do with some renovation. We decided that given the reviews we would check in before unloading our bags. Our room had obviously been given some attention with new furniture & fittings etc. It was clean and despite the windows looking in need of some minor attention it was warm and without draughts.

The service from the reception & bars was most efficent. Given that they were catering for 80+ at a single sitting the restaurant did an excellent job, a reasonable choice at each meal which was promptly served and hot.

We were advised prior to our visit that the Mini Fitness Suite would be closed for maintainance and that the outside pool did not open until later in the year which is just as well as it certainly required some work .

I have spoken to several of our group and they all enjoyed the weekend and said how surprised they were that the hotel was so much better than the reviews indicated. As a point of interest we were spread out over 3 floors so our group was not given the 'best' floor if indeed there was one.

I appreciate there may be areas of the hotel that are below standard but I can only comment on what I saw.
