“Attentive Staff, excellent facilities and a relaxing stay”
Reviewed September 9, 2009

I recently spent 2 nights in the The Connaught Hotel (Best Western) in Bournemouth. This was my first visit to Bournemouth and the staff at the Hotel did not only offer assistance with regards to their own services within the Hotel, but provided maps and information about the air show which was taking place during my stay. Two separate members of Staff printed information off of the internet for me and nothing was too much trouble.

The Hotel itself was spotlessly clean, the Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, they provided a gluten/wheat free option for my special diet and the leisure facilities were very relaxing and appreciated after travelling.

I would not only recommend this Hotel, but I will be returning myself in the not too distant future I hope!

a superb weekend break in a well equipped hotel - our room was beautifully decorated and furnished and we made full use of the spa facilities and enjoyed a relaxing massage. The restaurant provided a thoroughly pleasant evening meal after a relaxing pre-dinner drink in the bar. We found the staff to be very helpful and attentive especially giving assistance with local attractions. We would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel for a great stay in Bournemouth - despite the competition from many other hotels around!

This hotel was perfect for our short trip to Bournemouth. It is in an ideal location, being just a short walk to both the beach and town, with very good leisure facilities and a good range of eating options, including being able to eat outdoors, something i particularly like to do in the summer. The 18m pool is also excellent, larger than most hotel pools, and the small but very effective steam room was wonderful; I also had an excellent massage although there were not a wide range of treatments available. The hotel was very clean, and staff friendly and helpful. The room was also very clean although a little cramped around the twin beds. The bathroom was fine, not exceptional but clean and provided all we needed. I especially liked the sign in the bathroom advising guests where to leave towels if they needed to be replaced, or if they did not. All in all, this hotel offered everything my friend and i wanted for a short (or longer) stay and i would definitely stay there again. It was a little above my price range but i so liked the overall feel of the place, and the outdoor eating, i would go again.

We stayed in room 7 on the first floor. It was poky, hot and not too clean !

The window did not open securely and the room backed onto a stairway next to the kitchen so it was noisy and we could not leave the window open as it would of been dangerous. Bed was rock hard !

The toilet was ridiculously placed next to the wall and the tiles in the bathroom has mould . The hallways were narrow and reminded me of fawlty towers ,thankfully the staff were not Manuel and Basil.

We found the staff to be professional and agree that Nicky in the restaurant was a real gem. Its such a pity about the hotel as it spoilt our trip away and we couldnt wait to get back home.

The area around the hotelwas very low rent ,full of cheap drinking establishments and no decent restaurants and we will not return to Bournemoth but will go to Poole which was cleaner and not full of beer drinking YOBS as we found out seem to go to Bournemouth.

We went to the Marriot and found it to be in a prime location with better facilities and rooms, spend the extra and go there instead.

We have stayed in several hotels in Bournemouth over the years, and the evening meal was the best by far, very reasonably priced. Breakfast was also good.
Waiters and staff helpful and pleasant.
Room was clean and well laid out, the beds very comfortable.
we will definitely return when we visit Bournemouth again

We absolutely loved this hotel. The location is ideal, only 5 minutes walk to the beach and about 15 minutes walk to the pier and then the shopping centre. They have a lovely swimming pool, which is perfect for a quick dip before breakfast (something I quickly got used to doing!)
Nothing is too much trouble for the staff at The Connaught. I am a fussy vegetarian and the breakfast selection even had vegetarian sausages and soya milk available to order, a pleasant surprise and a highly unusual touch! Very good breakfast buffet.
Reception were friendly and courteous, with good knowledge of the local area.
The room we stayed in was large and tastefully decorated, with tea and coffee making facilites, as well as some Sky TV (what more could you ask for!)
Parking at the hotel was easy, although we were worried about this prior to visiting due to some negative reviews from previous guests.
There is even a fantastic Indian restaurant within walking distance to this hotel!
It was our first trip to Bournemouth and definitely won't be our last. We will be visiting this hotel again, hopefully soon :o)

Very good standard for a three star hotel with overall experience made excellent by warm and welcoming staff. In addition, lovely warm indoor swimming pool and pleasant areas for sitting inside or out. Minor problem with charging raised with staff and this was resolved immediately to my satisfaction. Single bedroom very small but still managed to be well cared for and included all the necessary comforts. Good dinner made special again by attentive staff. Breakfasts also excellent with quality exceeding my experience of other three star hotels.

I would definitely recommend this hotel. It felt like a holiday experience in itself rather than just staying somewhere to enjoy Bournemouth!
