“Great hotel & location”
Reviewed January 26, 2013

We booked this hotel on a special offer. We were very pleasantly surprised as we booked it for the location, close to the BIC, and never looked too much at the reviews of the hotel. It was perfect, close to the shops, the beachfront & the BIC, restaurants etc. We had room 501 in the roof. It was lovely, very quirky. Lovely comfortable bed. The hotel is spotlessly clean & all staff very friendly. Breakfast was cooked to order, rather than buffet style, and was piping hot and very good! We only stayed one night while seeing a show but wished we had booked for 2 when we saw our room. We will definately stay here again next time we are in Bournemouth and would recommend to others.

We were a little early for check-in, but the receptionist was very helpful and checked us in immediately to room 504. This is on the 5th floor and has views of the sea and the pier. This comprised of a bedroom with flat screen wall mounted television, large bathroom (with huge bath towels) and a bath with shower over it. The shower has a temperature guage on the bath taps which made it easy to get the temperature I wanted, there were complimentary toiletries in the bathroom and 2 bathrobes. The lounge area had a very comfortable 2 seater settee, coffee table, large wardrobe and chest of drawers and a mirror. There was a seperate room with tea/coffee making facilities and a huge mirror, so that even with my back to the sea, I could still see it. The breakfast consisted of various cereals, continental selection and full english cooked to order. I would highly recommend the breakfast. The waitresses were extremely well mannered and helpful and the dining room was very well laid out. This hotel has very high standards of cleanliness. The receptionists were very helpful with any queries and marked out on a map how to get to various places. This hotel is directly across the road from the Bournemouth International Centre. We had one minor complaint whilst we were there, which was dealt with immediately to our satisfaction by reception. The disabled access ramp is right next to the front door of the hotel. There is also a graduated slope in the dining room for guests who are unable to manage the steps up to the dining area. This is one of the nicest hotels I have stayed in and Caterina on reception is an asset to the hotel.

Room Tip: Room 504 has an excellent view of the sea, although it does have sloping ceilings in the bedroom, so...

A well appointed premises with staff who know how to provide great service. The whole building was spotlessly clean, the bed comfortable and the room was spacious with full facilities. We were upgraded from the sea view premium room to a suite, which was very nice!

It was a bitterly cold evening -3 degrees, but the room remained warm, even though it was in the attic area of the premises.

The location is good for all the main entertainment venues in town, opposite the BIC and close to the Pavilion Theatre and the restaurant quarter.

The seaside views towards the pier were great.

If I was on a business trip I would have been disappointed that the free WIFI was unreliable.

The breakfast was excellent, although they did not have my choice of smoked haddock from the menu.

Most important was that all the staff seemed to do a great job in making you feel welcome, seemed happy in their roles and cared. If I was returning to Bournemouth, I would not hesitate in returning there. Its not the cheapest place to stay, but the premium was worth every penny.

Arrived Christmas Eve great reception from staff, room 407 was great lovely and clean justs need mirror over dressing table to put make up on. Staff were wonderful especially the Manager, Marianne. Our only gripe with the restaurant was the traditional Christmas dinner. Very poor, one piece of turkey, stuffing, brussels that were like bullets and frozen roast potatoes. We see most people didn't eat it and sent it back but no apology was made and no alternative was offered. The evening buffet consisted of cottage pie, a large bowl of pasta with some green beans in and spare ribs with the brussel sprouts that obviously never got ate at lunchtime. Muffins and chocolate cake was the sweet on offer. The restaurants fish meals were excellent but we never see any other veg during our stay and also not one piece of fresh fruit. We paid the full amount for our Christmas break so we expected better. The cheese platter consisted of 3 slivers of cheese, 5 grapes and five buscuits. It may be because the restaurant is a separate entity to the hotel. Perhaps the food is better other times of the year but this is the only reason we would not return or recommend it as all our friends really like great food.

Room Tip: Signature rooms are excellent higher floors are better

We arrived on a wet January evening but the cheerful Receptionist immediately brightened the evening. This was the best Reception I have come across in England. A really good start.
Our room-309- was stunning. Large; A view across the pier;a lovely soft bed with good quality linen;2 flat screen TVs; a sofa; nice bathroom;good toiletries;bottled water;ample tea and coffee sachets........amazing.
The hotel is 100m from the promenade, 250m from the shopping precinct.

The evening meal in the restaurant was first class. Lovely food, excellent service, well priced wine and a romantic atmosphere.

We slept well in the lovely bed.

Breakfast was also very good with a good selection. The fresh fruit salad needed a bigger variety.

On our departure Reception were once again exceptionally pleasant.

We will certainly go back

Room Tip: worth paying the extra for better rooms

From the moment I arrived at the car park opposite the hotel the staff were great, I phoned the number in the car park and the hotel receptionist told me exactly what to do making it a stress free easy arrival. All staff were excellent in the hotel and restaurant. The hotel was of the highest standard and to my mind should be a 5 star rating.
Excellent choices for both our dinner and breakfast. The room was spacious and well equipped, we had a quiet most comfortable night. I cannot fault this hotel and will definitely return, I just hope that it is not booked up when I want to go because anyone would be foolish to stay anywhere else when visiting Bournemouth. The only thing lacking is a pool for my morning swim but I was happy to sacrifice that for all the pluses.
Top marks to all at The Park Central Hotel.
