Description: This vibrant restaurant in the Old Christchurch Road in Bournemouth is always bustling with a dynamic and diverse crowd. Ciao has become a favourite with locals for its unpretentious Italian fare and chic cafeteria style. With energetic red walls, brown leather banquettes and tiled floors, the dining room is welcoming and the staff are super-friendly. Best known for their menu of traditional pizzas and pastas, Ciao also offers a range of delicious salads and meat dishes. We love the honey and lemon chicken salad; the spaghetti con gamberetti spaghetti topped with prawns, scallops, rocket and fresh herbs in a tangy chilli lemon sauce; and the tasty oven-baked peppers stuffed with lentils, cannelloni beans, red onion, spinach and rosemary.

“Ciao - still one of Bournemouths hidden Gems.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 16, 2013

Have been visiting this restaurant in Bournemouth for some years, and have never thought to write a review.

Ciao really is one of the nicest, friendliest and most consistent restaurants Bournemouth has to offer. The hearty food is well cooked, portion sizes generous and all are complemented by well written wine list. The prices are fair, service - relaxed, and atmosphere fitting a 'local eatery'.

Sonny and his team continue to lead the way as a stand alone restaurant in Bournemouth town center and would strongly suggest giving this place a try for lunch or dinner. Book ahead to get a great seat in the window.

Thanks for another great visit last week.

Chris

“Excellent experience”

We had superb service very attentive yet allowed us space. The food was superb. As I have wheat and dairy allergies they were very good at accommodating my needs and allowing me to mix and match. A wonderful evening!

“Well worth a visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2013

Visited Ciao on the last night of our Easter short break and we were not disappointed. The cafe style restaurant was very quiet (one other party left soon after we arrived) and we ended up having the restaurant to ourselves but this didn't deter from a very pleasant experience. The staff (brother and sister front of house)were very pleasant and attentive but not intrusive, the service was very good (we were the only ones in though!) and the food was excellent. It looked and tasted like it was all freshly made and all the main courses arrived at the table piping hot - not something you always get from restuarants. Would definitely recommend and re-visit if ever we were in the area again.

“Nom nom”

We went to ciao last minute as I live locally. and have always walked past and thought it looked nice, I am so annoyed I haven't been sooner and have paid over the odds in other local restaurants for food not half as good! Service and ambiance also fab. We had a mix of seafood and meat/pasta dishes all as lovely as eachother and although stuffed we couldn't help sharing a dessert!
There is a wide range of choices on the menu, something for everyone and its nice, cosy and classy in decoration. We're defo going again very soon! Cheers for a nice evening :-)

“Good food, poor service”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 7, 2013

My boyfriend and I booked a table at Ciao via tablepouncers online which gave us 50% off the food bill. The waiter was aware of this and we felt that as we were not full paying customers we did not receive full customer service. The restaurant was not busy but we were often ignored and had to catch the waiters attention if we needed any more drinks as he did not come to check on us or ask us. He even forgot to bring a glass of water we asked for and a bowl for the mussel shells I ate as a starter. Despite this the food was very good and we enjoyed the meal overall. Without the 50% off though I think it would have been a bit too pricey for what it was.
