We had a room for three nights (Sunday to Tuesday) and it was quiet even though the hotel was nearly fully booked. Having said that here were no hen/stag parties booked in. It really is very close to both the beach and the town centre and we had no problem getting our car out, as mentioned in a previous review. The free parking and free wifi were a bonus and the room was nice enough, if a little dated. The bed wasn't the most comfortable I've ever slept in but it wasn't the worst either! Breakfast was filling with plenty offered, although I didn't like the sausage!! Overall, it was better than I expected for a two star hotel and the proximity to the beach more than made up for the slight shortfalls. The owners obviously read these reviews and take note of what's said as we couldn't leave our car in the car park after checking out due to other cars coming in and then being blocked in. We did find a car park close by that was quite cheap, so it wasn't the end if the world.

I stayed here at the weekend for my stag do, all 10 of us were expecting a run down hotel that was situated a long way from anything, run by staff that were fed up with stag groups.

Well how wrong we were! The hotel is very modern internally, very friendly staff (family run), brilliant bar tender, goes by the name of Carl, but actually we are pretty sure he is Kenny Dalgleish (you'll see what I mean when you stay there - he even answers to the name Kenny (now)).

The hotel is nice and clean, provides a good breakfast and is very well located (5 min walk to the town/beech).

Rooms were on the small side and parking is a bit limited, if I paid a £1000 a night this may have bothered me, but I didn't. The hotel looks a lot nicer than most of the others near by.

I vissited last week with 63 people, mainly children.
Hotell is a bit cramped with that many but we had it all to ourselves. The service was very good and solution oriented. Location was very good, both for shopping and park/beach actvities. Rooms is not soundproofed well, so bring earplugs just in case..

Room Tip: The Flat is a good choise if you wanth your own kitchen

Dear Lorenz

Thank you for your great review and we enjoyed having you all to stay,
even though it was a very big group for us - but we managed! Hope to see you again
if you ever come to Bournemouth in the future.

Kind regards

We stayed at Mount Stuart as a group of friends for a birthday in May 2013. The hotel was easy enough to find but parking was a nightmare. The car-park can accommodate around 15 cars but we often found ourselves blocked in by people parking slap bang in the middle of the car park outside of marked bays. At one point we noticed that only one car would be able to exit the car park due to everyone parking outside of bays – the stationary car queue snaked round the side of the hotel. When we arrived we were told not to block other cars in as there was a group of golfers who would be leaving early the next morning. Looks like no one else got the memo. My advice to you if you need your car? Don’t park in the hotel car park. Other members of our group had to park a fifteen minute walk away due to this situation.

The hotel is very dated with creaking floorboards wherever you step and our double room had just enough space to shuffle sideways round the bed and into the bathroom (which was also extremely tiny). The décor left a lot to the imagination and the “wardrobe” could hang maximum two coats. The floors and walls were very thin and you could hear everything going on in the rooms around you. There is a ‘no shop-purchased alcohol’ policy in the hotel, and the first thing you are greeted with at the front door is a sign reminding you of this!

If you are a family please spare yourself the trauma and stay somewhere else! This is one of only a couple of hotels in the area that allow large, young groups and the atmosphere reflects that.

Having said that, the staff were nice and eager to have a chat and get to know you and the location of the hotel was great – only a 15min walk to the clubs/casino or a 5min taxi journey. Would we return again? Probably only as a very last resort.

Room Tip: Ask for a bigger one!

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your comments - it does look as though you were allocated our smallest Double en suite - our apologies for that but the weekends do get very busy. We do accommodate Stag and Hen groups at WEEKENDS ONLY - the rest of the week we have a mixture of guests and
have plenty of families during school holidays - I would suggest that they come Sunday - Friday
as it is much quieter. Regarding the car park - we now ask our guests not to block anyone in -
this does mean that some guests have to park nearby.

We visited this hotel for a hen weekend. We were pleasantly surprised as the photos do not do it justice. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Only bad point is that the rooms are quite small and very cramped. One of our party had a family room which certainly could not fit 4 people in it comfortable unfortunately, so they ended up sharing one of our other rooms with fewer people.

Would also like better veggy options for breakfast please...sometimes you need more than eggs, beans and toast after a heavy night ;)

Very central location!

Thank you for a very pleasant stay.
