“Worth a visit”
Reviewed June 7, 2014

You can access the head either directly from the coast or by passenger ferry from Mudeford Quay. If you travel by car there is a car park although I thought it was a bit expensive. You can park in bays along the access road although there is a time restriction (I think it was an hour). After 7 pm it is unrestricted.
We walked all around the headland, and a lot of the paths are tarmac so it is good to walk on. It is obviously a little steep in places but the views are worth the effort. You can walk right down onto Mudeford spit where all the beach huts are, and there are also toilets here. If you like natural beauty it really is a must!

fantastic walking - choice of flat or hilly (to get amazing views), and can take the 'noddy' train if needs be. car park quite expensive though.

“Get out and see it!”

On a sunny and breezy day, a walk up the head, along the top and back via a stroll along the beach hut path to Mudeford is just beautiful.

“Breathtaking views (literally!)”
Reviewed June 4, 2014

If you fancy an energetic walk on a fine day there is no better place than the track leading from Hengistbury Head car park up and over to Mudeford Spit. On a clear day you see across the Solent to the Isle of Wight and down south to Bournemouth and beyond; dog walkers love the beach which is more pebbles than sand after the winter storms; the path across the cliffs leads through not only nature reserves but even the old ire ore mining pits so you get a trip back in time as well as beautiful scenery, flaura and fauna. It's then downhill to the Spit, with a cute little beach and splendid beach houses painted varying shades of marine blue. From there you can either catch the ferry to Christchurch or the famous road train back up the hill to Hengitsbury.
