I suppose I was swayed by all the glowing reviews of this hotel into thinking that the curse of the solo traveller might be broken. You pay for sole occupancy of a double room but while your friends who stayed at the same place on the same deal as a couple come home singing the praises of the beautiful room and fabulous views, miss solo traveller finds herself in a mediocre room with tired, outdated furnishings and a view of the kitchen extractor. Don't get me wrong, room 402 is a decent size for one person and the bathroom is lovely, there's plenty of storage, the decor is bland but fresh even though the furniture has seen far better days. About 20 rooms have this outlook so I don't feel particularly victimised, just not special. For what I paid, the room represents superb value, is (I am assured) quiet....though as I like open windows rather than air con, that may depend on what time the extractor goes off......It's just they this is exactly the kind of room I'd expect from a Premier Inn and I had hoped for just a little bit more. They say they couldn't accommodate my request for a sea view because there are conference folk in who have been here since last night, the fact that I booked so far in advance and rang this morning to ask for a nice room apparently didn't help. Still, the staff seem friendly & helpful, the location can't be faulted, and as I said, for the price I paid it's absolutely......ok.
