“I could live here”
Reviewed September 14, 2015 for a stay in September 2015

What a lovely house. We've stayed in quite a few cottages over the years, but most are 'holiday' locations - this is one of the few where I felt, 'I could live here'.

The photos really don't show how spacious it is - the living room in particular is far bigger than it looks. But if there's only three of you, you may well spend most of your time in the kitchen anyway like we did - as it has a nice big sofa!

The conservatory and terrace is a real bonus for a town house - especially mid-morning when it's in full sun. And the marmalade cat from a neighbouring house simply adds to the enjoyment.

Very quiet location, although a bit noisy on a Friday/Saturday night until about 11pm if there's something on at the Barrel House pub up the road - but then this is the centre of town! And if you take the net curtains down it's a great kitchen to people watch from, as quite a variety of people walk past.

And Totnes itself is well worth the visit.

Great all round. Looking forward to coming back.

“Lovely cottage in great location”
Reviewed April 12, 2015 for a stay in April 2015

We loved holly cottage. We've stayed at lots of cottages all over the country but holly cottage was probably the best. Beautiful decor, spacious rooms and perfectly clean. We loved the terrace with the view of the castle. The location was great, just a minutes walk to the high street for fresh bread in the morning, and anything else you could think of. There was lots to do in Totnes and lots and lots of days out within a short drive. The beds were comfy, the shower was good and hot! The kitchen was brilliantly equipped. It really felt like a home from home unlike some we have stayed in. I'm sure we'll be back!

“Just visited for our 3rd year in a row - Holly Cottage is a regular treat”
Reviewed July 13, 2014 for a stay in July 2014

We love Holly Cottage. We have taken our young daughter there for a week every summer for the last 3 years. The location, under the castle in the heart of Totnes, offers the perfect combination of unique Totnes life (who knew you could fall in love with a supermarket? Don't miss the Happy Apple) - with easy access to a range of beaches and other activities that keep everyone happy on a rainy day. The house is gorgeous - tastefully done and immaculately clean and fresh. The facilities give you everything you need - with two good size bedrooms - and the decking out the back is a great place to put your feet up and admire the castle. Highly recommended.

“Location, location”
Reviewed July 8, 2014 for a stay in June 2014

We had a good week in Totnes staying at Holly Cottage. Totnes is an ideal base for exploring South Devon with lots of interesting shops and eateries, and the cottage is in a great location just off the main street, we really couldn't have asked for a better spot. The cottage is airy and comfortable, well equipped and prettily decorated, and the view of the castle from the back terrace is lovely. Would stay again.

This cottage is so conveniently situated just off the top of the High Street .It is beautifully presented , with comfortable furniture and well equipped kitchen. The beds were comfortable, the shower powerful and the wifi was fast and reliable.
All communication with the owners was pleasant and stress free and there was a nice welcome pack and plenty of information provided on Totnes and South Devon.
Although we drove , the property is conveniently situated for the station, buses and boats as well as 2 supermarkets and the all the lovely shops and cafes. We enjoyed some lovely walks from Holly Cottage including to Dartington Hall.
The photos don't do the cottage justice , it really was much more spacious and beautiful than we had expected.

“A GEM OF A COTTAGE - HOME FROM HOME”
Reviewed April 6, 2014 for a stay in December 2013

My partner, our adult daughter and her friend stayed just after Christmas 2013 and the New Year. The cottage was everything we had hoped for - brilliant kitchen, well equipped, warm and welcoming - we spent many happy hours there cooking and chatting. All the beds were comfortable with clean white bed linen. The shower worked a treat as did everything else in the house. The real fire was a bonus, although don't light it if it's windy, because when we did smoke filled the whole room and we had to put it out! Quite exciting but not recommended. We all had a wonderful time shopping in Totnes, frequenting the local pubs especially the old one called The Albert Inn, recommended by the conductor on the Paignton to Dartmouth Railway. We had a great time on New Years Eve singing, dancing and generally being given a warm welcome by the locals. We also did a few runs along the river which was very picturesque but had been affected by the floods. All in all a wonderful stay in a very comfortable cottage and a delightful historic town.

Thoroughly loved our stay. The pictures are very true images. Very well equiped kitchen and the living/bedroom space is very comfortable. All in a perfect (central) location with free parking! What more could you wish for. Looking forward to a return visit next year, hopefully.
