“Five Stars For Seven Stars”
Reviewed November 29, 2013 via mobile

Stayed here with friends whilst doing some outdoor pursuit type stuff.

Royal Seven Stars is the ideal place to return to after a hard day. With its spacious, warm comfy rooms, great food and bar area's, it really is a lovely place to be.
Curry night on Tuesday is great value and highly recommended. The breakfast was superb and the pub grub was some if the best I've tasted.
The building is full of character and history. The floors and ceilings all seem slightly askew, but these imperfections only add to the charm of the place.
If I had to focus on a negative, it would be the limited car park space. But apart from that, I cannot fault this gem of a hotel!

We are local to Totnes and popped in for a bar meal around 7 pm on a Thursday evening. It was very busy at the bar, but the staff were friendly and helpful. My pint of Doombar was good, not overly chilled.
We ordered pork loin and sausage and mash, which were both very good. The accompanying vegetables were fine.
All-in-all a very good meal at a reasonable price, what more can I say?

Built in 1660, Royal Seven Star Hotel in the heart of the historical town of Totnes is a perfect base to explore the west county, Devonshire in England. You could experience living history in booking the Daniel Dafoe and Agatha Christie suites or any of the well appointed and beautifully furnished rooms in the hotel.

Room Tip: Book a room facing the front of the hotel.

It is a very old and historic hotel with ample amounts of character. All of our bedrooms are all individually styled & finished with high quality furnishings. The town is also well kept and it’s good that you were able to explore the town from our central location. We hope to welcome you back soon.

My mother is from Totnes, and she had always talked about this hotel as being special. I'd taken that with a pinch of salt however as basically it's the only hotel in the town. But we were thoroughly impressed by every element of the service and facilities here. I've stayed in some of the world's most celebrated hotels, and the breakfast here is at least as good as any of them. We loved the fact that we could bring our dog along too, and the room was perfectly spacious enough for a 40kg greyhound to sprawl on the floor so that tells you how roomy the standards are. All round we had an excellent weekend here. We have family in the area and will definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Standard room was more than big enough for us and a large dog.

We booked the deluxe room on a Sunday special deal - excellent value as always. this was our 6th stay at the hotel and we love it. Really friendly atmosphere, friendly staff and good service. The food was lovely - (only one small complaint - the cold desserts were left on the bar and could have been chilled in a refrigerated unit).
Will definitely be returning.
we love the different atmospheres in the 2 x bars/restaurant.

Room Tip: Treat yourself to a deluxe room. Premier and deluxe are great.

We popped into the hotel bar for lunch and had an excellent meal for six in pleasant surroundings. Although service was slow because it was busy the food was very good. The cod and chips, curry, sausage and mash were all very tasty, well cooked and presented. Favorite though was the whole grilled Brixham plaice. So well cooked it was heaven - fantastic meal. Bill for six with drinks was £84 - not bad at all.

I recently visited the seven stars for my granddads birthday. To start we had pints of Doombar and every mouthful was a delight. The beer has been kept exceptionally well and is a real tribute to the brewer.

For our mains my grandad and I had the cod and chips from the extensive menu. My dad had the belly pork and both dishes were delicious.

Luckily my grandad was on his best behaviour so the rest of the bar/ restaurant could enjoy their experience.

We will be returning in the future.
