This is a fabulous Hotel in a lovely little town. It has been very sympathetically restored and beautifully decorated.
There is a buzzy Bar, a lively Coffee Shop and a beautiful Restaurant/Champagne Bar serving imaginative food. The rooms are very comfortably furnished, and tastefully decorated, and the En-Suites well appointed.
Most important of all though are the Staff who are efficient, helpful and friendly, nothing is too much trouble. All in all a fantastic stay.
One small fly in the ointment is that it is located centrally to the town, so a little noisy at week-end, don't let that put you off though.

Room Tip: I stayed in 2 different rooms and both were beautiful

The rooms here are excellent especially the ones with the four poster beds.
Bathrooms are well appointed and our room had a whirlpool bath big enough for two!!
The food is really good here both at dinner and breakfast. There is a fab atmosphere in the bar and all the staff are friendly, helpful and most efficient.
We will be back for sure.

Hi

I write this at 10.50pm.

I would like to go to sleep.

The disco music which started at around 8.30pm downstairs has just increased in volume.

My window is wide open - otherwise my room would be very hot.

I am on the first floor. Outside my window (i am on the first floor) the assembled local popuation will be drinking to past midnight.

This is not a hotel. It is a night club, restaurant and bar.

There is no consideration for the needs of the hotel guests.

This should be made clear in their meandering material.

Room Tip: Ask for a room high up the building away from the street. If you want a comfortable night book somew...

What can we say we are truly sorry someone is unhappy while staying at the Royal Seven Stars Hotel. We are glad you enjoyed the use of our free Wi-Fi though.

We are a popular location at the heart of Totnes which is not your stereotypical sleepy Devon town and with it being August bank holiday weekend the town was in a relaxed mood. We had moved you on arrival from a quieter room at your request to cater for your requirements. When you called reception at 4.30pm to inform us of the noise from our terrace, we were aware and tried our best to keep the noise down. We would have happily moved you to another room again but unfortunately by that time everyone had checked in and we were fully booked on the evening in question. When you called reception later on in the evening regarding the noise we did turn the music down to make it more comfortable for yourself however we cannot control the happy noise of the local town. It is a very hard act trying to make sure we keep everyone happy whilst taking into account the accessibility of the rooms and our other guests’ requirements.

We are manned 24 hours and if you have any questions or have any specific needs our reception team are happy to answer them honestly, as knowing our guest requirements in advance helps us provide the best service possible.

Yet again another lovely weekend, meeting old friends and enjoying the ambience of the Stars. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the location is excellent, great breakfast and the place is spotless. We will be back again in December.

Have been many times to the seven stars and would never fault the service thats provided. I have had many things from their bar menu from salads to nachos to combo platters. Everything i have personally had has been of good standard and i think it is good value for money. What you pay for is what you get. I think for a puby lunch its ideal and they serve food all day. I havent eaten off their other menu in the a la carte resturant but stick to the chirpy busy bar areas that have great atmosphere.

Thank you for this great review. We take pride in our quality local cuisine and we are always happy to hear when it is warmly received. Our new TQ9 Brasserie Autumn menu is even more impressive and starts from 18th September. We will of course continue to maintain the high standard of our bar food the next time you come to visit.

This old coaching inn has evolved over the centuries, full of fascinating old timbers and sloping floors.
Unfortunately, because the weather was extremely hot we needed to keep the room window wide open all night and inevitably this let in a fair amount of noise from Saturday-night revellers. Never mind!
All the staff were absolutely charming; discreetly attentive without being servile.
The biggest surprise was dinner, with an excellent offering of both meat and locally caught fish.
I tried the local scallops to start, followed by a main course of lamb. Both were beautifully presented and excellent quality. The wine we chose was good too.
I though that the cost of around £40 each for 3 courses including wine and coffee was good value considering the high quality of the food and standard of service.
A delicious full breakfast was included in our room cost - worth bearing in mind when comparing costs with budget hotels that invariably charge extra for breakfast.
Recommended - I'd certainly stay at The Royal Seven Stars Hotel again.

This is a brilliant review and is very appreciated. We are glad that our standards of service and the quality of our food made up for the towns happy night life. When you book with us next time please make a request for a side room and we will do our best to allocate you a room away from the front terrace. Hope to welcome you back soon.

We had had lunch at the Stars a number of a times over the years and decided to stay there. It proved to be an excellent decision. It could not be better placed to explore Totnes which is a charming old town with some interesting shops, good pubs and a great market. Having lunched at the hotel we foolishly booked our evening meal in a restaurant a short walk away. Next time we will dine at the Stars as well. We discovered a very nice patio area through the ballroom which was perfect for a quiet drink after a few hours of roaming around the town. the room was very comfortable but a little too warm even with the window open. It is also worth noting that the car park at the rear of the hotel is very small but you can double park if you leave your keys at reception. We will definitely stay there again.

Delighted to read you enjoyed your stay with us. Our ballroom balcony is a great sun spot and agreeably a lovely place to enjoy a cool beverage or simply people watch. As the balcony is only accessible to residents it means it can be a nice and relaxing area away from the busy bars. Even though we do provide fans for our residents the surprisingly fantastic summer we have had this year meant that even they were not enough. We are glad to hear that this has not put you off staying again and we hope you have a more comfortable night the next time you stay.
