We stopped for a visit whilst having a break from our steam train trip. It was a small place but as mentioned before "GOOD THINGS COME IN SMALL PARCELS" We were a bit sad about some of the history of the rescued owls, but at least they have got a good home now. We were made to feel very welcome and a bit sad that we had too rush off for our return train journey.
We wish them all the success for the future, from
Derek "the owl man" and Pam from Andover

A little gem of the beaten track, very reasonable price to get in and width buying bags of food, we all enjoyed feeding the goats, sheep, alpacha and many more, had a lovely toasted panini, had the extra bouns of the steam train coming into the station

At most petting farms we’ve been to at most you can do is lean into a pen and stroke the animal and feed it though bars, not here! At the rare breeds farm you can enter the many of the enclosures, stroke the animals and feed them. My daughter is mad about goats and we must have spent over an hour with baby goats stroking them and feeding them. I wasnt so fussed about the idea myself being a real towny, however these gorgeous little kids really changed my mind. I was tempted to start the good life and have one in our garden at home, Shame I couldn’t convince my husband! My son was especially keen on the birds of prey and when he asked if he could hold one he was allowed to do so. He was thrilled. A special experience to get close up to the animals and even though it was peak holiday time it was hardly busy. It does take 5 minutes to walk there from the car park but it’s a special walk across a bridge and a steam train rail line. It’s very scenic. We all had lunch in the cafe which served us freshly made food quickly and it was really tasty! The only thing I can fault is I wish it wasn’t 5 hours away from home as I’m sure we’d be regulars.

Thank you so much for such an amazing review. So happy you enjoyed yourselves so much, the goats are always a big hit! Just hoping you meant that your son could touch the owls as I will need to quickly point out here we don't let people handle our birds.
But a massive thank you for your kind words and support...hopefully we will see you again in the future.

We have often travelled on The South Devon Railway and looked across to Totnes Rare Breeds Farm. We're so glad that today we decided to pay a visit. There's a wide range of animals and they're clearly well looked after and the farm is well maintained. We had a snack and drinks in the café as well and really enjoyed our time here between trains. Would recommend a visit.
