Just come back from a great 4 night stay.
We stayed in a 3 bed caravan, which was plenty big enough for 3 adults and 3 children for a short stay. It was spotlessly clean and the washer/dryer was a godsend when it came to all the wet towels. There was loads of storage too, the double bed lifted to reveal a fab storage area for suitcases, wellies, all the stuff you want out of the way.
We didn't visit the club in the evenings so I can't comment on the entertainment, same for the food as we either cooked (for which the kitchen was very well equipped and a proper cooker! And a table you could get 6 round very comfortably) or went into Torquay(park is on the outskirts of town, at least 10 min drive to the harbour/beach)
The indoor pool wasn't that big and only had the one slide but there was a separate paddling area for Toddlers and a good selection of balls, floats, etc for the kids. Plenty to keep my 7,5 and 2 year old happy and it never felt overcrowded.
If your looking for a park with loads to do then this is not for you, but we liked it for that reason, not a lot for the children to be pestering for. The site has a good range of stuff like bats, balls etc to borrow for free, our kids enjoyed playing football, basketball and badminton with other kids on he park, all free! There's a lovely (brand new) playground. Crazy golf is really crazy though, built on a slope!
We would recommend this park 100% and wouldn't think twice about going again.
And our favourite trip out was a day out to Dawlish on the train, lovely quiet beach right next to the train line, and a fantastic cream tea at the Old Mill Tea Rooms.

We recently went to Torquay Holiday Park. We like visiting Park Dean sites and thought we would try this one as we had been to Challaborough and Ruda in previous years. We didn't know what to expect, but our caravan was lovely. We had one of the best caravan models there and we still payed a very reasonable price for it. When we went for a meal at the restaurant (The Patio Bar), we very much enjoyed our meals, but the restaurant was more like a cafe. It was not big at all. The tables and chairs were getting tacky and the menus were simply just a white peice of paper made on Microsoft Word, with no specials or anything else that is advertised on the Park Dean website for Torquay. It was all crammed onto the one peice of paper, which was slightly dissapointing. Considering it was very small, the sercice was slow. When we went back another night, it was pretty much full up, although there was only about 15 tables. We went to order, but were told no more orders were being taken until a later time because they were too busy! They were very short of staff, most definatley including the cooks!! We had to go to the takeaway instead, which you could only get to from going in the entertainment hall. We're not big fans of going to entertainment, bingo, etc and whilst waiting for our food, the entertainment really was awful. The one on stage was just going on and on and we couldnt have stayed there any longer!! The pool was another dissapointment, we thought the pool would be good as there was a slide, but it was never open. The lifeguards opened it at every quarter past of the hour and every quarter to to the hour. It was pathetic as when they did open it, it was only for about 3-4 minutes. You couldn't have many gos, but even when you did have the chance to go on it, it was pretty slow and you would stop halfway down unless you pushed yourself. You came out into really shallow water, with no splash. The lifeguards were terrible too. They blew their whistle at every opportunity they could get! As soon as you walked in, they would blow and tell you to take off your shoes and put them by the door, even if you wanted to put them in a locker. They would then tell you to go and have a shower if you went to get in. Then in the pool, anything that was just a little too much, they would blow their whistle again! Once there was a little child about to get in the jaccuzi with his paren but as he was too young, they quickly blew their whistle and were having none of it!! They were just too serious and didn't want you to have fun by the looks of it. There's making sure you are safe and being over the top!!! The play park was good and the field was good, apart from when the ball goes down the hill! The mini gold was very poor, £2 a go each. Every time you hit it, it would simply fall back down as it was on a slope. The sports area was good too, the boys really enjoyed it. Out of all of the Park Dean parks we have been to, this was the worst by far. We won't be returning. There were some good parts, but it was just a bit run down and not very impressing. It was good that we had Paignton and Goodrington nearby as otherwise we would have been very bored staying at the camp the whole time.

Room Tip: Make sure you are prepared to drive around or catch a bus as you may get bored on the park. Paignton...

Having heard mixed reviews, when we stayed in August in a 8 person caravan, we was pleasantly surprised. The women on the reception were lovely, very friendly and helpful, they had smiles on their faces and was happy to help. The caravan and the complex was very clean, and all the staff were friendly.

The entertainment for kids through the day was great, again the staff looked happy to help and included all the kids. The evening there was security making sure that the people entering was only park residents, and that they didn't have any drugs or alcohol on them, which was good to see, they was also happy to help with any queries. The staff who done performances was great, they had something for everyone which included a nightly bingo. The team involved everyone of all ages and abilities.

The park is a bit out in the middle of nowhere however you get lovely views of Torquay. I wouldn't advise getting a bus however car and taxi are good. the taxis from Torquay to Parkdean was only £6, Bargain!!! It is a great base for anyone with a family who wants to explore the local area as isn't too far from Brixham, Babbacombe etc.

Room Tip: The caravans are lovely, very modern and are very clean.

So called delux Shaldon apartment was very poor. Supposed to have been refurbished but little evidence . Room was very smelly upon arrival and there was a hint of cigarette smoke in in there too. It may well be assumed that an air freshened had been used to disguise this. This apartment was supposed to be non smoking.

The carpet was filthy and smellled of inground dirt. The kitchen area was well appointed with frodge/freezer, kettle, micro wave and small oven. all utensils appeard to be in situ and it must be said, very clean and tidy.

the bathroom consisted of a loo and and a smallish shower cabinet and small basin.Again upon arrival it was adequately clean and tidy.

at a guess the floor layout suggested that the may have been three rooms there originally and they were converted into a two bed room and kitchen diner area. there was a table and four chairs with one loubge chair and settee, which converted into a bed. difficult to see how six people could actually manage in this area.

A totally useless balcony was included in this ground floor room overlooking the car park. The nearest car being just a few feet away.

The park itself was very very hilly and anyone with a toddler with the need for a pram/ pushchair would manage. The park was also in the middle of nowhere and any visit to the beach exetera necitated a vehicle.

We did not experience any of the park facilities, bar, entertainment or otherwise as all we could manage here was just one night before we left. The total cost for this mess was a staggering 700 plus which upon our disastrous experience simply cannot be justified.

Room Tip: If you must use this park then possibly choose a larger caravan instead of these apartments. They ar...

This is a very average place, unfortunately we were captive to the night time entertainment s we had a little one and this place is in the sticks.
My partner was quite upset by some big burly security women checking our toddlers back pack every night before we entered the club. Apparently our 2 year old may have hidden alcohol in there. When we asked for access to the soft play area which was under lock and key we were asked to leave a credit card, driving licence or mobile phone with this same security person. No Thanks.
We will not be going back to this place again and the management need to take a serious look at how their security staff behave.

Room Tip: Stay away from the apparently refurbished apartment, they are not all that good and have just had a...

we came with low expectations for this park, the reviews were not all positive. The truth was that this is a beautiful and well-kept park. Very quiet in the countryside yet close to all the highlights of the English Riviera, a car is recommended. We were a few nights kept awake by a loud extra camper. However, this was not really as noise maker turned out to be a badger!. Very nice experience to even be allowed to see such an animal!
