“Great family stay in Wellswood caravan”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 9, 2013

Spent a lovely week during Easter holiday at Torquay Holiday Park. First caravan holiday we've done but such good value we will be back. We'd booked a Wellswood three-bedroom caravan (Saddle 9) and it was really nice, clean, very warm thanks to much appreciated heaters in every room, decent sized living area and kitchen, large shower room with seperate toilet and bedrooms all with wardrobes.
The only things missing were a tin opener that actually worked and a baking tray for the oven and rack for the grill pan!
The six of us (2 adults, 2 under-10s, 2 teenagers) all had great time. Indoor swimming pool was warm daily and lifeguards Shannon and Luke friendly. Bar/clubroom was busy but plenty of tables and takeaway food counter which was handy and delicious. Entertainment most nights was really good. Our little girl also took park in a couple of daytime events, including popstar club and Easter egg hunt, all for free (we've done Centerparcs previously several times and everything similar is at extra cost) and with really nice, friendly, helpful ParkDean Troupers.
They even realised it was our son's 10th birthday without any prompting and gave him free sweets and drink in the evening. Maintenance staff were really friendly and quick to respond when the power went off in the caravan on one afternoon, and great security staff made us feel confident enough to let our teenagers visit the club unsupervised.
Park's location is quite isolated and on a hill, but there's an Asda 1.5 miles down the road or local shops/bakers/chemist about the same in the other direction. Nearby attractions worth visits include Babbacombe Model Village and Clifftop Railway and Torquay Harbour.
Overall a great week here for half the price we'd have to pay at Centerparcs - we'll be back again.

Recently returned from a stay at Park Dean. Caravan was clean and tidy and excellent playground for the younger memebers of the ginger bread family. Weather was particularly cold but we up graded to a van with central heating which was well worth the money as it was lovely and warm at the end of a busy day.
We viisited the club house most nights for the childrens entertainment which was great for little ginger. He loved dancing along with sid and lizie the resident characters

Returned home today from another great week at Torquay Holiday Park this time our stay was in a Goodrington Caravan - Wow it was an amazing brand new caravan and very much top of the range. Considering the temperature throughout this last week the constant temp control in the caravan was an added bonus and the overall spec of the caravan is fantastic. Again as always all interactions with staff throughout the park were excellent all staff very friendly and helpful. The Entertainment was great. We really didn't want to return home today due to the overall experience at this park but never mind have already booked to return in 5 weeks

Just got back from spending a week in an apartment on this site,we were well impressed with the apartment, everything you could wish for to cater for yourselves.
One downside was the fire in the lounge/kitchen diner,it looked very pleasing to the eye but as for heating the room it was not much good,in each of the 2 bedrooms there were electric convector heaters ,these made the rooms really snug & warm.At this time of year we would have preferred the heat to the look of the fire.
It was quiet on site but could imagine when the site is full it would not suit people who like the peace & quiet of the park setting, its about a 10 min drive into Torquay but there is a parade of shops just down the road for takeaways ,a co-op,chemist,tesco express,a pub, bakery.
There are things on site where you can eat but the takeaway does not open until 6.30pm,far too late for tea time, there is a nice cafe & a shop,as you would expect the shop is not the cheapest but did sell a wide range of goods.
Advice to anyone going make sure you have some form of transport.
Also if you have an apt ask for odd number ones as they have a lovely view from the 2nd & 3rd floor rooms right over Tor bay,we were in a ground floor one (number 8),this overlooked a car park.Would I go again well yes but not in March, try a warmer month.

Room Tip: Any odd number on any of the 3 floors for the best views.

We are older people who just needed a rest as i have been ill. we spent a lot of time in the caravan and as we upgraded we were disapointed. yes we had central heating and double glazing but didn't think it was worth £85. The radiator inside the door was covered in brown marks which i rubbed off myself so house cleaning was not good. The resturant we had a meal in was great,The meal was first class and good staff. The shop was very well stocked. The double bed was very uncomfortable.

Room Tip: sorry didn't mean to tick room service as we didn't have it.

We have stayed here twice now, august 2008 and earlier last year for a week. The park is situated well out of the way of just about everything here, with paignton and torquay a good 15 minute drive too.The park itself has a launderette and play area by the carpark as you turn in and situated nearby is the main clubhouse with a small arcade just off this. The park is a very tidy one and would recommend this highly. Our only gripe was whilst booking we were told we would be allocated a van near the clubhouse as my dad cannot walk very far but when we booked in on the saturday morning they said this action was not mentioned to them and instead we ended up 200 yards further down the park. Also when we walked into our "replacement"van the seating was badly ripped so when we reported this(to cover ourselves more than anything)on returning to our caravan that saturday evening they had flipped the seat and covered it with a piece of cloth!!!How wonderfully professional of em!

Our family has stayed here on numerous occasions and various times of year. We have never had a bad experience and if we have had a problem it has always been put right promptly. Meals have always been amble, good quality and value for money. Obviously in a place like this the entertainment is geared up for children but the later shows are usually enjoyable. I'm not sure what expectations the people who have written bad reviews have but this is a nice park, unfortunately you can always get undesirables at any venue and holiday park prices are usually a little higher as with most hotels etc. The pool does get busy but obviously there are going to be times when lots of people are there. Staff are always helpful and entertainment staff are good at getting the kids involved in things.

Room Tip: Pay for more expensive caravan, the central heating etc makes it well worth it.
