“We loved it & would highly recommend”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 21, 2011

Me my mother and fiancé stayed at the Abbeyfield Hotel from Thursday 28 July to Sunday 31 July and enjoyed every minute. When we arrived Sandra was very warm and welcoming offering us tea, coffee & biscuits in the lounge area whilst running through everything we could see and do in Torquay.

We booked the 2 rooms on the ground floor one single and one double kingsize. Our double room was lovely and clean with a huge kingsize bed, a large walk in shower and lots of attention to detail i.e. a fan, hairdryer, toiletries, a nice selection of tea, coffee and biscuits & even little scissors to open the sachets! There was even a little table outside our room with drinks and snacks you could purchase.

We must say that the breakfast was definitely the best we've had in a guesthouse/hotel in this country. There were bowls of freshly prepared fruit salad, dried fruits, nuts and cereals, activia yoghurts & pouring yoghurts, a mix of exotic fruit juices and local jams. We were also given a choice between a cooked breakfast and continental breakfast. I tried both which were delicious! Also my mother can only eat certain foods due to a recent illness so Jeff & Sandra made sure she had exactly what she wanted.

If you are planning to visit Torquay I would highly recommend this hotel. I really don't think you could get much better for the price, comfort, service and quality. Also Babbacombe beach and Cockington village are definitely worth a visit (if it's not raining!)

Finally I would like say thankyou to to Jeff and Sandra for their looking after us and for posting back my mothers dress she left in the wardrobe a few days later! She said the little note inside made her laugh! :-)

We have always had a brilliant stay with excellent service.
Jeff and Sandra are really welcoming and nothing is too much trouble.
The rooms are spotless and decorated to a very high standard, the beds are very comfy.

Jeff also cooks the best breakfast ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are heading back in September for our 4th time, can't wait.

Just go back from a 2 night stay here. It's in a great location, just a short stroll from the town or the seafront. The owners Geoff and Sandra are very friendly and helpful, they cook a brilliant breakfast to get you going for the day, but we ate too much and had to doze it off before we could go out! Our room was spotlessy clean with everything you could need hairdryer, toiletries, tea and coffee, iron on the landing outside our door, sweets, flat screen freeview tv and was decorated very nicely. If you want I believe they will cook an evening meal for you and there is a little bar if you fancy a tipple, however there is so much choice in the town and harbour area, it's nice to explore. We would not hesitate in staying here again!

Just spent a week at Abbeyfields. Very well presented, warm and friendly hosts.
My wife has recently had a knee operation ( complete replacement). We had a ground floor room with walk in shower. Decor was excellent. The FULL ENGLISH BREAKFAST was excellent.

Will defininely be returning in the Autumn.

Room Tip: Ring and speak to the owner when booking.

We chose this hotel based on the fantastic reviews we had read when trying to choose between a couple of places - and we weren't disappointed. We turned up early, as traffic was better than we had thought, but that wasn't a problem, Jeff was there with a big smiley face, said the room was ready, and that we could check in early. We got a lovely cup on tea on arrival, and then Jeff sat with us and went through all about the local area, places to go etc, and places he recommended, such a nice guy.

The breakfast was absolutely superb as was the service and hospitality. We stayed in a standard double, which was absolutely spotless, and decorated to the highest degree. The bed was possibly the comfiest I have ever slept on.

Cannot big up this place enough, great value for money, fantastic location, and the loveliest owner I have ever met. We will definitely be going back again, and cannot recommend this highly enough - I defy anyone to find a fault with this excellent hotel.

We have just returned from another superb stay at The Abbeyfields. Jeff and Sandra are the perfect hosts and nothing is too much trouble for them. A wide variety of breakfast choices are available from fresh fruit salad to full english breakfast, cooked to your requirements. The room was very clean and nicely decorated, with plenty of storage. Jeff and Sandra also provide plenty of information for local restaurants, shows and entertainment to ensure your stay is enjoyable. We'll definately be back.
