We stayed here from Saturday 23 may to Tuesday 26 may. In the early hours of Sunday there was a huge fight in the corridor just outside our room from 3am in the morning - we had to call the night porter, the guys were banging and crashing around, kicking walks, throwing stuff etc. the night porter arrived and tried to calm the 5 guys. The fight restarted at 3.15am. The police eventually arrived at 4am. Our bedroom wall was shaking where they were being pinned up against the wall fighting. not a pleasant experience. We reported it to the main reception the following morning whereupon the lady said - yes we are aware of the fight, the night porter did report it. Thank you. And that was that. no apology!

the breakfast is mediocre and the hotel is in need of updating.
The indoor pool is good for children. Room 220 is very close to the pool and ideal for children as well as being a family room. Room 314 is a long way from reception and up and down lots of stairs and very dated and in need of TLC.

On the plus side the hotel is within easy walking distance of Torquay town and the land train stops right outside the hotel.

Generally I would not stop here again.

Recently visited the Rainbow Hotel, Torquay staying over the weekend Friday to Monday. And I've got to say very impressed with the whole experience. The hotels was clean, staff were friendly and pleasant.
we were booked BB&D and both breakfast and evening meals were buffet carvery, however the evening meal did also have choices of set meals, food was excellent.
During the evening the hotel had entertainment on in the main ball room, which on the Friday and Saturday was very good, we did not see the entertainmenton the Sunday evening as we decided to walk in to the town centre, about 10 minute or so from the hotel. Good bar too, prices of beer about what you'd pay in an average town pub (During the day you can jump on the Land train which stop on the otherside of the street from the hotel, cost about £3 return).
Rooms in the hotel clean but a bit dated, however the room we had was spacious and it had both a double bed and single, very comfortable and a great night sleep was had. The room also had on suite, and tea / coffee, tv and telephone.
Anyone who as visited Torquay will know there is plenty to do, lots of shop for the girl, nice pubs for us lads and many places to visit in and around the area.
We've booked again to stay at the hotel in August, and can't wait for it to come around.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 204 bit of a walk from reception, but ok for us

Mon - fri holiday, hotel is quite dated, but kept nice and clean.
Buffett style restaurant was nice although we prefer a sit down meal, looked like the restaurant had been updated.
Rooms were nice and spacious.

This hotel was great value for money, the food was fantastic and very hot at all times. The staff were very friendly and helpful. And the bed was very comfortable. The evening entertainment was the only thing which we did not like.

Room Tip: They are all good

When we arrived I found the exterior to be in poor repair that gave me a very poor impression however once inside I found that the dinning room bar and various areas had been up-dated. The hotel staff were welcoming and helpful, the room was dated but clean loads of hot water and everything you need! The bed was very comfortable. The food was repetitive though good tasty and plentiful full English in the morning carvery in the evening, however there were alternatives and the menu for these was clearly displayed. All in all my stay was pleasant and for what we paid excellent value for money
