We stayed at this hotel as part of a coach holiday with Shearings, the hotel owners. The “mystery” package for £69, including a coach from Leicester, was for 3 nights/4 days with bed, breakfast and evening meals and 2 excursions. There was even a bottle of bubbly, box of chocolates and a bowl of fruit for us in the room. However, there was only a bar of soap and no shampoo/gel in the bathroom. The hotel is tired, and would benefit from the attentions of a plasterer and painter! However, the rooms were warm, clean and comfortable and the staff pleasant. All the meals, with reasonable choice, were well presented and good, although on just one of the days lacked taste – perhaps a relief chef? Entertainment was each night, with bingo, comedian and musician of varying standards and subject to personal taste.

came home 2 days early could not have lasted there any longer,it needs a total refurbishment has to be the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. our room no 221 was awful no doors on wardrobes.shower had to be hand held as it would.nt stay on wall bed had seen its best days towels had stains ,nearly all the people were saying its the pits, food was terrible .has to queue for 10 mins for drinks as there was only 2 staff behind bar supposed to have been all inclusive buy not all drinks, the staff were good done the best they could .thank goodness we went self drive and could come home.my husband and i are 58 and 62 and we love our holidays we would.nt put up with this if we went out of Britian.instead of the people moaning they should complain as we did next thing a letter to shearings not that they will do anything.

My husband and I have come back for a second visit to the Trecarn Hotel. Last year we booked it by choice and this year it was a "mystery" destination and we were given this destination again! Still more or less the same. Brilliant food and staff; cosy, excellent free bar. As most people say, the decor is a bit shabby in places but this is a minor fault compared with the overall good feel about the place. It is clean and warm - not too sure about the TV reception; looks like the picture comes from the moon, but that is not important we can watch TV at home. Do go to Babbacombe Theatre to see the Laughter show - I think it is on most of the Summer. Tank Sherman is hillarious and Lindsey has a great voice.

Shearings provide holidays of exceptional value, a visit to this Hotel is no exception. It would be difficult to match the food quality/quantity, excellent staff and value of an "all inclusive" break.
The bedrooms are clean and comfortable, towels and linen of good quality, television, tea/coffee, hairdryer, plenty of hot water and good heating. Plenty of storage space, but really in need of redecorating.
With the exception of the dining room, which is very attractive and comfortable, the other public rooms are badly in need of redecoration.
Entertainment provided most nights between 8 and 11, which is varied.
During our stay the Hotel was full, and everyone, I think without exception, seemed to enjoy the holiday.

We booked this trip with Shearings Holidays and we booked it at the last minute. We hadn't read any reviews, hadn't done any homework at all and had never been on a Shearings "All-inclusive" break before.
We were driven from our pick-up point to Shearings' interchange and from then by a brilliantly informative driver, Brian, to the hotel.
Once at the hotel we were very quickly allocated our rooms and had our suitcases delivered.
Our room was very clean, very spacious and warm. The en-suite bathroom too was very clean with a supply of complimentary soap, shampoo etc.
The evening meal was served with complimentary wine and had a reasonable choice of menu. We had our own table - no communal coach-trip-style dining here - and no fixed time either, we could dine at any time between 6.00 and 8.30pm. The food was served by our very able waiter, Jack, who served us for our entire stay.
The entertainment was varied throughout the week and we were treated to a good mix of singers, comedians and disco.
There was, as this was an "all inclusive" break, a free bar from 6pm through to 11pm with quality named brands of drinks. There were queues on a couple of occasions, usually when the bar first opened at 6pm but generally it was easy to get served by one of the three full-time, and very pleasant bar staff.
You get folks who mention things like "creaking floor boards" or window-frames that "need a lick of paint"...
I go on holiday to enjoy myself. Not to try and impress others that I'm used to far better surroundings, far better food, far better this or that.
My wife and I use hotels for regular short breaks and in my opinion the Trecarn Hotel offers a brilliant service for the price and I personally doubt that you will find better value anywhere else. The accomodation is adequate, the food is adequate and the staff are second to none.
We tried to book it again but on the dates we had the hotel was booked solid. Can't wait for our next visit!

After all the bad reviews i have read about this hotel, I must admit I nearly did not book but how wrong can one be. The newly fitted bathroom was excellent and towels changed as you wanted. The bedroom was adequately furnished and a welcome fruit bowl, chocolates and sparkling wine greeted us. Food was excellent as was the service. Can't wait to go back.
