Lovely sea views from lounge, and short walk from rail station and Torbay buses. Pleasant walk to town along sea front. Staff respond quickly to comments and requests and breakfast pleasant, Clean but definitely low budget room as price indicates - basic small single with noisy floor, and creaky bed against boiling hot radiator. Window opens. Sounds carry through rooms and corridor. Good quality towels.

Room Tip: 46A 2nd floor at rear overlooking railway line - very creaky & noisy floors

On arrival the gentleman at reception was not very welcoming and quite surly. The bedroom was tiny, obviously one room made into two, so was very crammed and very dusty. The bathroom had been updated but had toothpaste marks on the sink and taps. The bar resembles a dentists waiting room, with a few chairs linned up against the wall, i asume you have to ring a bell for service, but after waiting sometime i had to go to the kitchen and ask for someone to come !
A cooked breakfast is priced at 5.99, and is of very poor quality, microwaved sausages etc.
This could be a lovely hotel with the right staff and a little care.

We had two nights here - bed and breakfast. The room was clean but we could hear all sorts of noises from adjoining rooms. Woke up on the second morning to someone snoring.
When we arrived the man on reception was surly to the point of rudeness. We asked for a drink later that evening and he made it clear it was a bit too much trouble. Other staff were friendlier however.
Breakfast was ok, nothing special though. However, this was a very cheap deal but would rather pay more and stay somewhere better.

My wife and i have just spent a weekend at the Waters Edge, it was a cheap break so i did-not expect it to be the Ritz, but the constant creaking of the floor boards drove me mad, the breakfast was cold, and in my opinion the beans and sausage were the worst i have tried, also the dining room was very cold. The plus points, the two male members of staff that we encounterd who doubled up as waiters and receptionist were very plesant and helpfull. So if you dont want to spend a lot and your not too fussed about your food you may like this hotel, very nice view from the dining room.

Room Tip: iIf you get room 43 take ear plugs.

ROOM 53 after a weekend stay the room was dated, shower was terrible small and either freezing cold or boiling hot no in between, light above the bed hanging off the wall. plug socket hanging off the wall not exactly got health and saftey in mind have they, the english breakfast was very poor, yes it was cheap but next time i will be spending a little more elsewhere,
floor boards squeaked everytime we moved or walked, this hotel is in need of some TLC

Room Tip: didnt see swimming pool or fitness centre and was not advised bout anything on arrival
