“A great stay”
Reviewed April 6, 2014

We arrived for a break, was very welcomed by all staff, good choice of food and drink.
Good room cleanliness.
A good 3 nights for the price of 2.
The evening meals were a tied choice, but we found something which we both liked each night.
Also entertainment in the lounge was good extra after dinner

We are so pleased you enjoyed your break with us. Our 3 nights for the price of 2 was a great offer in March, we now have another offer running for April, 4 nights for the price of 3, which makes it excellent value during April. We hope you will be able to visit us again soon.
Kind Regards

We spent three nights on a three for two booking deal and were pleasantly surprised how the hotel has improved from our last visit about 5 years ago. Considerable refurbishment has been carried out in the rooms and public areas resulting in good décor and atmosphere. The food was far improved with the dinner options providing something tasty and well cooked for both of us over the three nights. Entertainment was a bit staid and for us too middle of the road but was appreciated by the other guests. The cinema was not well used on the three nights we were there maybe because it needed a few more comfortable seats! The location is excellent with a 10 minute walk down to the shops, marina, theatre etc. and if you are lucky to have a room on the first floor facing the town, a good view. The outside illuminations make it particularly attractive at night and there is now plenty of parking where the old tennis court has added essential additional parking. Staff were extremely pleasant and helpful at all times with service being excellent in the restaurant for dinner. The breakfast was as in most hotels now self service for the cereals, fruits and hot dishes with a plentiful supply of tea/coffee and toast brought to the table. Quality of the hot breakfast items was good, had only one problem over which they were very apologetic and that was the plate heater broke down for our last days breakfast, as on other days the plates were hot rather than being just warm which is essential for a buffet style breakfast. Even the weather was unexpectedly in our favour for the 4 days in March! The only reason we downgraded sleep quality was the bed was a bit too firm for best comfort/sleep. We will certainly visit Lincombe Hall again.

Room Tip: Some ground floor rooms have small balconies for sitting out in the warm weather which would be good...

Thank you for returning to the Lincombe Hall Hotel and for your lovely review. We took over about 4 and half years ago and have since undergone a total refurbishment of all the bedrooms, bathrooms, public areas and swimming pools, and have actually started again on the bedrooms, with the intention of upgrading all bedrooms every 3 to 4 years.
We hope that all the improvements and upgrades will help welcome back guests, like yourselves, that saw the hotel fall into a state of disrepair but loved the special atmosphere and uniqueness of it.
We look forward to seeing you again soon.
Kind Regards.

Just back from a lovely break at this hotel. We have stayed many times in the past however not for a few years and we were delighted with the upgrade to the hotel in recent years. We had always enjoyed our food in this hotel and to be honest it was just as good as ever - the hardest part being what to actually order each night! Would recommend as a great place to stay while visiting Torquay - lots of parking and close enough for a stroll to the harbour and shops. Good entertainment each night as well as a cinema room. All the staff were thoroughly pleasant and showed excellent customer service. I can say hand on heart - we will be back!

Room Tip: We were in a gold king size room over looking the front of the hotel on the first floor. Views were...

It is lovely to welcome guests back that haven't been to us for a while and have yet to see the improvements made over the last 4 years or so. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay so much. We have made many changes, including 46 new bathrooms, every bedroom has been refurbished, refurbished public areas, in fact every part of the hotel has been improved and continues to be.
We changed the unused tennis court into extra parking, feeling it more important for guests to have plenty of parking spaces rather than an unused tennis court sitting empty.
Our Gold rooms are larger and have lovely views, but also our other rooms, Superior and Standard, are all of an excellent quality and refurbished to the same high standard.
We do hope that you can return again soon.
Kind Regards

The Lincombe is becoming a very great asset to the bay as many have remarked, food and decor excellent, standards of service also , easy access to town and local attractions, slight drawback is the layout of the entertainment area which does not allow any form of dancing other than stand where you are and wave your arms about, the top act has to be multi instrumentalist Steve-Davis' who has been at this hotel for some years and draws people back time after time,a true artist who actually CAN PLAY' to virtuoso standard all of the stringed instruments he features, all in all a great place to say.

We are regular visitors to Torquay and have never stayed here before. I booked from the good reviews on the trip advisor and I can say we were not disappointed.
We stayed in a Gold room overlooking the front of the hotel, the room was large and tastefully decorated and coordinated, it's was impeccably clean.
There was entertainment on with a male vocalist who was very good, easy listening music, he finished around 10.30.
The breakfast was all self service, and had a wide variety of starters and mains, if you walked away hungry it was your own fault, the English breakfast was beautifully cooked and hot.
The only problem with the stay was we were only here for one night, but on the flip side we will be returning to enjoy it once again.

Just back from a 3night stay using the special offer of 3 for 2, which lured me to book. Only booked on Wed to stay on the Fri, so wasn't fussed about a particular room Stayed in Room 23 but despite having a lot of stairs to climb the room was lovely. The room was warm and had windows open all day and night in March! Since coming back to Birmingham last night we are back with the heating on!! Lovely to have a separate shower and bath
Staff extremely helpful and very hardworking. Have stayed at the hotel over the years and noticed all the changes and it always gets better. Films and entertainment was a good extra. Shame that the outdoor Jacuzzi opened as we left on Monday. I do remember spending time in it in October a couple of years ago as we had a late heatwave! Hope the special offers continue as we will be back.

Room Tip: If you don't like climbing the stairs don't choose Room 23. The shower wasn't very power...

Me and my wife stayed here in may 2012 and Jumped onto tripadvisor as soon as I got home because the hotel was fantastic and warranted a good review. There isn't a great deal I can actually add to my last review because it hasn't changed at all. The staff are excellent, service brilliant, rooms are great and the food is outstanding. The one thing I would point out that was slightly off-putting is the way cash sales for drinks are dealt with during dinner; we paid for bed, breakfast and evening meal and obviously any drinks we have during dinner are to be paid for. We were given a choice, charge to your room or pay cash. I said we would pay cash. The drinks are then brought to the table and, even though you have a mouth full of food, you are asked to pull out your wallet and pay immediately. This made me feel rather uncomfortable. I can assure you that we had no intentions of running away without paying. leaving a bill on the table to be paid after guests have finished actually eating, is a practice used in most restaurants. You should consider it here. On the subject of other restaurants, we tried out a nearby restaurant called The Cary Arms because we were told that the food was amazing. If you visit lincombe hall and are tempted to venture out to The Cary Arms, don't bother. The food at lincombe hall is much better and a damn sight cheaper.
