Lincombe Hall Hotel
Ranked #10 of 85 Hotels in Torquay
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed August 2, 2012 via mobile

We arrived in Torquay quite late in the evening on Sunday 29th July.
We thought we wouldn't have a problem finding a nice hotel with a good last minute rate. After trying several hotels that were quite old fashioned and refusing to budge on their rate at 8-9pm in the evening, we happened upon Lincombe Hall. It looked from the outside that it would probably be as expensive as the rest but decided to try.
As a reservations manager myself I was very impressed with the receptionist that evening. She was very lovely, friendly, and approachable. She gave us a very good rate and choice of rooms.
The room we had (51) was lovely. Beautifully decorated, clean and with a large bathroom.
The hotel has recently had a big refurbishment and they have done a good job.
We didn't spend enough time there to experience much of the hotel.
The only suggestion I would have is that the hot breakfast would be better cooked to order. A hot buffet breakfast is never the best however I can see why it's done in a large hotel. It was adequate though.
We saw some special offers on the desk for a three night stay which looked like very good value for money.
This hotel is definitely worth a look if you want good value and clean, modern rooms.
Thank you especially to the receptionist that evening who checked us in. I didn't catch her name but she did her job very well.

Thank you for your lovely review. We am very pleased your short stay with us was an excellent one and good value for money. I am also very pelased Sharon, our Receptionist on that evening, was so helpfuland that you liked our newly refurbished bedrooms, bathrooms and public areas. I hope, should you be in Torquay again, that you will be able to stay longer and enjoy all the facilities of the hotel, including our indoor and outdoor heated pools, lovely grounds and evening entertainment.

just returned from 3 night break,we stayed in room 12, a gold room, was expecting something slightly better although the room had a great view of the garden and beyond,on arrival room was very warm and stayed that way through the night so didnt sleep well, not sure if it was location of room or that the weather was unusually warm! Bathroom was spacious and clean.
There is a good size garden with a pool which is heated and a jacuzzi, there is also a indoor pool which we didnt use as weather was too nice ouside.
As other people mention staff are friendly and helpful.
Overall we enjoyed our stay and would probably return for a short break.

Thank you for your lovely review about our hotel, we are especially pleased you liked the garden and pool and had some lovely weather while you were staying. Room 12 probably has one of the best apsects of any of the rooms, with a lovely large window and views out over the gardens and down to the harbour and sea and is one of my favourite rooms. I am also pleased the staff were friendly and helpful and look forward to you returning for another short break with us.

As my sentence suggests I was very happy with my first stay the hotel is near the town centre but in a quiet location. My room is decorated to a very high standard I was very comfortable indeed, the staff were helpful & friendly and the food was a very good standard indeed. If your active there are 2 pools & tennis courts.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone who likes a bit of peace & quiet.

Me and my husband have just returned from a 2-night break for our wedding anniversary and we had a great time. We found this hotel by chance on a google search, and are so glad we did as it was in a queit location (half-way up a hill) and it had magnificent views from our room (Number 15 Gold room). As soon as we arrived, we were welcomed by the very friendly staff and given all the relevant info about the hotel. We loved our room. It was huge and the bed was MASSIVE. Like I said, the view was really amazing, and definately worth paying that little bit extra for. We had breakfast included, and that was really nice too. The dining room was large, airy and bright and the food was good quality. We used the outdoor heated pool and jaccuzzi each morning, which was a really nice added bonus of the hotel.

The hotel is in a quiet location but only about 5 min walk from the marina, and then about another 5 min walk into the town where the bars are. Torquay is a good base for exploring the surrounding area. During our stay we went to Brixham which is well worth a visit and Dartmouth. Blackpool sands and Slapton are also only a short drive down the coast and are both really lovely places. We also ended up in Paington which was absolutely heaving! So we decided not to stay.

Thanks to all of the staff at the Lincombe Hall Hotel, we had a great time and we'd definately return!

Room Tip: Pay a little bit extra for a Gold room as the views are gorgeous.

We struggled to find a hotel in torquay as alot of places don't allow children below the age of 5 plus we left it very last minute. Lincombe hall replied to my email welcoming our family to their hotel and offered us their last remaining standard room.

The location off the hotel is very convenient, 5 minute walk to the harbor and 15 minutes back as its up hill!

The room was very spacious, decorated to a modern style and extremely clean. All the basic amenities were present.

Breakfast was buffet style in a recently decorated restaurant. The food tasted freshly cooked and not like typical buffet.

The best thing about this hotel is the staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they were always smiling! We were given so much useful advice on the local area and baby friendly activities. They catered for our young baby very well.

When we return to torquay we will definitly be staying at Lincombe Hall Hotel.

I stayed at the hotel with my husband, daughter and elderly mother, and felt we were all catered for. The rooms are excellent, and everywhere were spotlessly clean,. The food was delicious, especially the breakfasts. All the staff were friendly and welcoming, A lovely outdoor pool, unfortunately the weather wasnt good enough to use it.
There was evening entertainment, which was very enjoyable and greatly received when it was too wet to take a trip into town. My daughter has a bear which she has had she was born(she is 16 now) was left at the hotel. A big thank you to Hayley who arranged for it to be sent back to her, nothing was too much trouble. we will definitely return.

Room Tip: The Gold rooms are worth the extra money
