my husband and I joined my brother and his wife for a three night break at this hotel and had a really lovely time.It was my husbands sixtieth birthday and he had a great time. The rooms we had were very comfortable and luxurious every little detail that made your stay an enjoyable experience. Lovely area of the town and quiet at night we slept very well.Breakfast was the best breakfast you could possibly want nothing to much trouble. My husband has since tried to book us in for another stay in october but they are full no surprise there.Best guest house around and very reasonable rates will look forward to seeing andy and carole again soon best regards Brenda and Roy

We stayed here for 3 days (room 6) large airy room with huge bed and small ensuite. No views but very comfy and a good breakfast and decent service. Not cheap but recommend as per previous comments - Andy and carol are good hosts - quality standards.

We stayed at the Elmdene Hotel for a week and we could not have chosen a better place to stay. Carol and Andy were so warm and friendly to all their guests and their hotel is beautiful. They take a great deal of pride in the running of their hotel and both work extremely hard to provide their guests with an all round first class service. We will definitey be staying here again the next time we visit Torquay, not only for all the reasons mentioned above but to try to sway Andy into supporting a decent football team...LOL.

We can not fault Elmdene Hotel. We booked for four nights but unfortunately the weather was so terribly wet on the last day we decided to return home early and so did not stay the fourth night. This was disapointing for us not only because of the weather but because we were so impressed with the hotel and indeed Torquay itself. Our room was first class, very large even for a family of four. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. It is very obvious from the minute you stepped into the hotel that they set very high standards and were genuinely concerned that you enjoyed your stay with them. When we said we were leaving early they offered us a pot of tea before we left and to make us sandwiches for our journey. Andy even offered to help load our car in the torrential rain. The hotel was also well situated to access all parts of Torquay with a bus service if needed outside the hotel. We would definitely recommend Elmdene to anyone staying in Torquay and hope when we return the weather is better!

The Elmdene is run exceptionly well. All the rooms are spotless and the hosts do there upmost to make sure everything are to your needs.
They provide an excellent breakfast , from cereal to full english.
Carol makes an excellent sausage sandwich.
The Hotel is only 10-15mins walk from the harbour, 50 meters from the hotel is the num 32 bus stop. So if you dont fancy paying to park, just jump on the bus. Also the train station is a 5 min walk from the hotel, exellent for day trips to Paigton or Dawlish.

Andy and Carol, who run the Elmdene, are extremely helpful and friendly. Nothing seems to be too much trouble. From the moment you arrive you feel welcome.
Upon arriving, we parked in the car park and went into the hotel where we were greeted by Andy and shown to our room. The first thing you noted was that the room and communal areas are exceptionally clean and well appointed.
The hotel is only a short walk from the harbour so we walked into town and took a ferry trip across Torbay to Brixham. The following day we took an even shorter walk to the railway station and went to Paignton where we spent a pleasant day wandering around the shops and sitting on the beach. In the evening we had a meal in the bar and lounge which are of a nice size, big enough to accommodate everyone but small enough for Andy to ensure that his guests were comfortable. The food, (and drink) in the bar was excellent as was the food at breakfast.
The Elmdene Hotel is great value and we will certainly be visiting again.
