“Tasty Food, Comfy Beds and Lovely View”
Reviewed July 16, 2014

This comfortable hotel is a mere 2 minutes walk from the beautiful Meadfoot bay on the edge of Torquay we discovered. This was a major bonus as it is a wonderful blue flag beach.
Whilst we were somewhat younger than most of the clientele there we were made to feel very welcome by the friendly staff.
The champagne I had ordered for our anniversary was there, chilled and a tasty Cava. They also offer flowers or chocolates if you want to do something special.
The breakfast is only served between 8:30 and 9:30 but it is a very tasty meal served in a dining room with a fantastic view of a well manicured garden and the sea beyond. A view I did not regret paying slightly more to get from our bedroom.
The compact rooms are indeed small, but they are very clean and fresh with contemporary décor.
The bed was extremely comfortable and whilst the walls were thin as they have a gentile clientele noise isn't a problem.
The only gripe we had would be the shower which on the first morning was fine became too hot and wouldn't react to trying to change the temperature on the second morning. I suspect this may have something to do with the simultaneous demands upon the plumbing.
That said this was well priced and it met all our hopes for what the hotel would be and more. If it hadn't been for the shower this would certainly have been rated excellent.

Room Tip: Room 7 was ours

We visited the lovely little Hotel Balmoral again and were pleased to find it as good as ever. This was our third visit and our first in the summertime. The hotel is in a lovely location with views over Meadfoot Beach - the quieter and more scenic part of Torquay. For those who like to walk, it is ideal being on pretty coastal paths. There is a hotel car park but also a very convenient bus stop outside to take you down into the main part of the town. The food here is good and amazing value for money. You'd have to be pretty fussy not to be able to find something you liked from the excellent choice on the 5-course dinner menu. There is a lovely garden for sitting out and a well-stocked bar so you can enjoy drinks on the patios on summer evenings.

Room Tip: Go for the superior rooms - cost a little more but it's worth having a lot more space, better ba...

Three day stay. Booked three rooms as my wife and i brought my elderly parents and auntie down to visit family in the area. Staff were very helpful and friendly.Food was excellent and hotel garden was great for my elderly family members to sit in. As my wife is wheelchair user we has a ground floor room this was excellent My parents and auntie had rooms next door to each other on the first floor they could not fault them. All round a great visit would recommend the Balmoral any time.

We booked three nights in the hotel on recommendation of friends. We had a warm welcome and discovered we could have an extra night free.We booked a sea view room overlooking the garden which was so lovely and very spacious. We found the food was very good and overall atmosphere friendly. Nothing seemed too much trouble for staff. We left towels to be changed and came back to find two beautifully modelled towel swans on the bed...a beautiful touch. Value for money it was excellent and we would return again. We relaxed so much which was the aim of the stay. Bus stop just outside hotel.

Room Tip: Worth the small extra amount for sea view room.

Having visited the Hotel Balmoral twice before, we were again greeted by friendly and efficient staff, and nothing is too much trouble. This time we recommended 8 family members to join us and they too had nothing but praise for the staff, food and the hotel. The food, excellent and such value for money, the rooms have been ungraded over the last few years and adds to the whole experience. Live entertainment on both evenings both great and the atmosphere was good which meant we stayed in the hotel both evenings (normally we would go out when staying in hotels). Overall, a great weekend, excellent food and superb service and such good value for money. We will definitely be returning again and the rest of the family will be too... highly recommend.
