My husband, myself and four others stayed 14th - 16th. March but wish we had arranged to stay longer. From the cream tea on arrival to the Sunday lunch before we left we could not fault anything. Rooms were all clean and had a good views.Communial rooms were welcoming and comfortable. Food was excellent I even tried and enjoyed somethings I had not before. Hotel was very handy for local places to visit. Staff were brilliant. We will definitely return but for longer next time. Lesley Ross, Bristol

We had a 4 nights here & thoroughly enjoyed each one! The staff are EXCELLENT & quickly attended to any queries & the food is very good. We had an upgraded room with a super kingsize bed & were most comfortable. We walked into Torquay along the coastal path & back along the road route, both easy for 2 golden oldies! There are chairs & tables in the immaculate garden which I imagine are great in the summer. I understand that people come back time & time again, however the group staying at the same time were inclined to act as if they owned the place, always sitting in the same places in the lounge & being quite vocal! However this kind of thing is not the fault of the hotel staff. It was just the break we needed.

We enjoyed a special offer weekend break with friends. (party of 6). On arrival we had a lovely cream tea with homemade scones. The hotel staff were lovely and very friendly. The 5 course meals which were included in our break we thoroughly enjoyed, and were good quality. We also enjoyed the evenings entertainment. The hotel is positioned 10 minute walk from Torquay. All in all we had a lovely stay and even the weather was sunny. We hope to visit sometime again in the future.

We stayed here last weekend and were not disappointed! The ritz it is not but the personal touch and attention to detail by the staff are second to none! The food was always excellent ans the service perfect. It was great to meet with fellow guests some who had been coming back for 20 years!

I highly recommend this hotel for great value for money in a beauriful location! We will be coming back!

We went for a weekend break with relatives. We have been visiting this hotel on and off for the past 21 years and have not been disappointed. The refurbished reception area is very stylish and our room had also had a make over. The food as always is very good. We were also lucky with the weather, it was warm and sunny. Alex and the staff are very friendly and work hard, but the lady behind the bar could do with some training on mixing pimms and getting her prices right! We will certainly be going back.

Room Tip: It is not necessary to book a room with a sea view as you are not in them long enough to spend time...

My family, of 6 adults and 1 child visit this hotel very often and return year after year. This is a good 3 star hotel, and is clean and excellently located for all amenities. The staff are always very friendly, especially Alex. And they do there up most every year to cater for all our needs. This is'nt really a child friendly hotel, based on the facilities. But my daughter has always been made to feel welcome and she has been catered for well in the restaurant. she is never disappointed when having a little break here. All i would say, is sometimes the bathrooms can be noisy from other rooms (plumbing) on a morning, and i do prefer king size beds. we have requested a king size bed in our room on our next stay, and this has been organised. So no complaints there. A fabulous base for exploring Devon with a welcoming and homely feel. would fully recommend the evening meals (choice of meals and plentiful)Also beautiful gardens to sit outside in the summer. looking forward to returning!!

I have just returned having spent a weekend away in Torquay at this hotel & can only say I was very impressed.

If you are expecting the Ritz, then you will be disappointed, but true British value for money you will get,

The rooms although dated, are more than adequate, the food is excellent & plentyful, the service polite & professional, nothing seemed too much for the team,

Evening entertainment was just right, a nice mix of music,

The departing lunch on Sunday was a lovely touch,

I cannot say too much for this jewel of a hotel othet than to give it a try, you wont be disappointed.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view
