Arrived at the hotel and got parked easily as it has got a long driveway with ample space. We were greeted by John with a very warm welcoming and he took time to talk to us about places of interest and things to do which we thought was a very nice touch. He gave us some leaflets and a map for the area and circled the places we asked about. The room (number 2) was to a good standard and looked recently refurbished (apart from the carpet which was a bit worn/dated...a new carpet would have completed the refurbishment nicely, also in the main hallway. The en-suite bathroom was to a high standard and was clean with branded toiletries and nice white towels. The room was cleaned and tidied daily and toiletries, coffee/tea, biscuits, bottled water was replaced daily. We had a problem with the kettle which was sorted straight away. Compliments to the chef on the cooked Full English breakfast we chose everyday, we thought it was very nice. We enjoyed the fresh orange juice, tea and coffee and were offered more toast. The only thing we could say to improve on the breakfast was hash browns and asked how we wanted our eggs. There was a small bar area available and you could sit outdoors on the patio to enjoy your drinks (although we would have liked to have had a greater selection of wine, we enjoy zinfandel Rose and there was no Rose wine available just white or red).
The location of this hotel was perfect for us, it is a short walk away from the beach, harbour and restaurants. On departure both John and Sonia came to thank us for staying and see us out which we thought was a nice touch. All in all we were very happy with our choice of hotel and although we have mentioned a few minor areas to improve we still think that this hotel was a pleasure to stay in and would like to thank John and Sonia for being great hosts. We would definatley visit again in the future.

The Bahamas Hotel is a lovely family run hotel with bags of style. We have been going to The Bahamas Hotel in Torquay since the current owners, John and Sonia, took over - about 7 years ago and always find a warm welcome there. Over the years we have also seen the hotel rooms gradually being refurbished to a boutique hotel standard. The room decor is lovely and relaxing, the beds are some of the most comfortable I've ever slept in and the fabulous breakfast keeps us going until dinner time and all at a really competitive rate. Why go anywhere else: if you're visiting Torquay stay at The Bahamas Hotel, you won't be disappointed.

Stayed at the Bahamas Hotel in May 2014 for a couple of nights and really enjoyed it as the owners were friendly and helpful, the beds were comfortable and the breakfast was tasty.
You are given two keys one for your room and one for the front door so when we came in at the early hours of the morning we could let ourselves in, but it would have been helpful if there was a security light to let us see where the keyhole was !
I would not hesitate staying here again on my next visit to Torquay as we were made very welcome and the location is within easy reach of town and the station.

My first visit to Torquay and to the Bahamas Hotel must say that John was most helpful in advising on places to go and also where to eat in Torquay, which helpedus massively. My husband, myself and parents stayed there and were very impressed with the rooms and the excellent choices at breakfast. John and Sonia are lovely, friendly welcoming hosts and we would definitely stay at the Bahamas again.

Friendly owners John & Sonia.

Stayed for 3 nights in July 2013. This was our 2nd visit and one of the reasons for coming back was the comfortable beds. Other reviewers have mentioned the decor on entry but this did not stop us from coming back as the hotel is very clean and the rooms have been nicely refurbished.

Lovely breakfasts and a couple of choices.

Not far from Torre Beach.

Room Tip: We were in room one on the ground foor. As there was an heatwave this was a good choice as the room...

This was our first stay in Torquay for 43 years. It was a fairly late booking for a 7 day holiday but it turned out to be a good choice as we would certainly stay at The Bahamas again if we return to the area. The owners were friendly and served up a great breakfast with plenty of choice. Comfortable, very clean room. It was ideally located, with the sea front only 5 minutes walk away. First impressions of the hotel outside and entrance are a bit shabby and dark and could do with some decorating to come up to the standard of the rooms.

Room Tip: Room 10 was the Premier Double Room overlooking the front and was an excellent choice for us with pl...
