“Very Luxurious”
Reviewed November 6, 2012

My Boyfriend I stayed in the Sommerville Suite this weekend and feel totally spoilt! Adam and Grant are very welcoming and helpful. The room was to die for! The attention to detail is amazing, you couldn't ask for any more. Every part of the room and Bathroom was spotless which makes a fussy woman such as myself very happy!! The Sommerville is within walking distance from some great Restaurants and also the Shops and Sea front. Oh and the Breakfast was fantastic, with so much to choose from. We cant wait to come back again :)

Thank you for taking the time to post a review, it was a pleasure to welcome you to Torquay and we will be delighted to see you again at some point. We're continuing to develop the things we provide and have begun using a local supplier for organic milk and dairy products and a local bakery for bread etc. These are in addiiton to those local suppliers that we already use. It's important for us that our guests experience the very best Devon and the South West can provide and we're always over the moon when it really helps make a visit just that little bit more special. We also really want to help our local economy as much as possible

I can wholeheartedly recommend this stunning boutique hotel to you. We had a fabulous two day stay at the courtyard room downstairs. From the moment you arrive, you realise you're somewhere special. The furnishings are sheer opulence and the hotel is beautifully clean and well presented. We were made so welcome and given useful information on the local area. Our room was spotless, comfortable and the furnishings were so tasteful. The room had lovely finishing touches .. Dressing gowns, slippers, an excellent array of hot drinks, sweets and Devon bottled water. Additionally, the hotel provide fresh cookies and cup cakes daily which you help yourself to and fruit. The bathroom was well presented and the taps and shower screen shined to a very high shine :)
The breakfast choice is outstanding and the fresh fruit was so appetising, there were also cereal smoothies provided with the most exciting ingredients .. This was better than any of the New York Deli's I've visited .. Then you have an extensive choice of cooked breakfast so tastefully presented. The hotel provides good quality tea and coffee's and the staff make you feel like nothing is too much trouble.
We will definitely be returning to this gem in Torquay, Infact we wouldn't want to stay anywhere else.
Spoilt now by Adam and Grant's executive standards. Their efforts were not wasted on us :)
Thank you

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at The Somerville. Adam & Grant are very friendly, helpful and make you feel extremely welcome. The property is beautifully furnished throughout. The attention to detail is amazing - they have thought of everything!! It was the nice touches like complimentary jellybeans, water & elderflower presse in the room & the cookies/cupcakes that were available every afternoon that added to our stay! The breakfasts were fantastic which yet again came down to the attention to detail & the service. Can honestly say we had a fabulous stay here & wouldn't hesitate in recommending The Somerville to anyone.

Room Tip: Torwood Suite was wonderful.

My Husband and I have spent another wonderful break at The Somerville and a very warm return welcome from Adam and Grant. On this occasion we booked the Somerville Suite and found it to beautifully appointed. We especially loved the lavish mirrors and the stunning light fittings. We gave ourselves time to enjoy the room and it was particularly nice to watch Downton Abbey from the settee in peace and quiet!

Great having a fridge in the room as our complimenary water was nicely chilled and we could store the fresh milk provided, for morning tea.

The breakfasts are even better and much thought and imagination has gone in to provide the guest with a vast choice. New to us this time were the dainty breakfast trifles which were much enjoyed and appreciated. Fresh friuts are a feature and choices included red berry fruits, mango, pineapple, blueberries and delicious plump prunes. Grant is a master of the good English cooked breakfast which we both indulged in each morning......!!! Pastries and jams are superb and a good selction of toast finished the most important meal of the day!

We can't remember how many times we have visited the Somerville but I do know that we have slept in most of the rooms! They are all wonderful and well furnished and the whole style is pretty unique. We can't praise The Somerville enough but Grant and Adam provide an outstanding level of customer service and fully deserve all the accolades they have achieved. This is a great way for me to staywhilst visiting my home town and we would like the lads to know just how much we appreciate them! x

Room Tip: The suites are outstanding and afford you more space.

As a returning guest I can only sum up the experience at The Somerville as so very welcoming -it's everything you should be able to expect when staying away - but so rarely actually find! From the moment you arrive you are made to feel that nothing is too much trouble and the entire experience is relaxing and enjoyable. The rooms are extremely comfortable and the housekeeping excellent. Grant and Adam are wonderful hosts full of useful local knowledge and always helpful. Thank you - we are looking forward to next time already! Sue and Peter.

Room Tip: All are to a good standard although sizes vary - however pricing very fairly reflects this.
