“Easter at the Grosvenor”
Reviewed April 2, 2013

My wife and I have just spent the 3 nights over Easter at the Hotel and found the whole experience fabulous. The staff are so helpful, special mention must go to Karen (Duty Manager) who is sensational and apart from a gigantic pay rise should be promoted to Head of the Richardson Group. (Probably won't happen)
We had room 14 which is tired but spotlessy clean. Unable to use the balcony as there is a falling masonry issue. Breakfast was very good, with live entertainment each evening and reasonable bar prices.
The hotel could not be in a better location, 10 minutes walk from the town centre.
I will definately be returning, hopefully when the weather is slightly warmer.
Congratulations to Mr Richardson and all of your staff

When we arrived we were directed to room 19 that was awful. It stunk and was very worn and old fashioned, so rang reception and explained that there was an awful smell, she apologised and asked us to come back down to reception. She gave us a key to room 2 , which is there only refurbished room so far. It was amazing, it had took them 5 weeks to do. High cielings, luxurious curtains, huge bed, settee, sea view, well worth £100 of anybodys money. We have booked for xmas !!!! The night before , we stayed at Rookery Manor , near Weston Super Mare , where Katie Price got married the day after, and this room at The Grosevenor was far superior. Well done Mr Richardson, keep up the good work!!.
Entertainment every night, and a different act each evening. We saw 3 different acts and were all top class, worth a visit even if you dont stay there.
Breakfast was good, no complaints, even the sausage was edible, thanks mark for your premium sausage input!!! Staff great, dont expect The Ritz, but they are working on it. Mark and team have all gone, so just memories of a television programme !!! Thankyou team see you at christmas, dont forget my selection box haha XX

Room Tip: Room 2 is amazing , will cost a lot more though, but worth it

After watching the telly series and reading some of the reviews I wasn't expecting much. We stayed from the 30-31 of March. When we checked in we went into our room and it hadn't been cleaned from the visitors before, but went back to the reception and the lady was very quick to correct the problem and put us in what I thought was a nicer room. The hotel was a little tired looking but nothing horrible. The location of the hotel is brilliant only about a 10 mintue walk to the town centre and the breakfast wasn't bad either. Would love to visit again.

Just returned from Easter weekend at tv's the hotel with our three children and loved every minute it was everything we expected and more very friendly and helpfull staff we had a large family room it was very clean with a great breakfast in the morning too!! The only obvious dissapointment was no mark , Alison or Christian !! I would say get mark in as manager and you'd have a little gold mine !! Everyone there missed him!!

We booked a 2 night stay for 12 of us of varying ages (6 - 70) for a family birthday celebration. We were expecting faulty towers, especially after seeing the TV series and £9.95 per person. The rooms were spacious, with complementary tea and coffee. The breakfast included in the deal was of very good quality and the staff was exceptionally helpful and proficient. We were shown one of the rooms that has been recently refurbished and I can see the vision of a boutique style hotel.

We ate in the inn both nights and the food was excellent, we felt we didn't need to go anywhere else.

We stayed during a very cold spell of weather and the hotel was nice and warm, as we're the staff.

Would definitely return

Room Tip: Room 2 has been refurbished. Or 31 was very nice. (Marks old room I believe)

Have just returned from a 2 day break (26-28 March) at the Grosvenor. we went there as we watched the tv series and wanted to experience the hotel even though most of the characters have gone. As most other reviews have said the \place does need a lick of paint etc and they are in the middle of updating all the rooms. we stayed in room 26 which was a nice sized room with a seaview, the room was very clean and sheets etc were crisp and white. All staff were very friendly and polite, and a special mention to Fabio who is a waiter in the restaurant. I can honestly say he was the most polite, friendly and caring waiter you could meet and as he was only 18 ish he has a fantastic future in the catering trade, he is an asset to the hotel and they should maker sure they can keep hold of him. We did not eat in the restaurant in the evening but the breakfast was great and you could have anything from the menu, if you wanted extra bacon, sausage or egg there was no problem. Would recommend hotel as it is so convenient to beach and town centre and would definetley come back again. We also made use of the indoor pool and gym which was also included in price.

Room Tip: Its worth paying an extra £10 per night for sea view

Thank you for your lovely review. I will definitely pass your feedback back to Fabio, as he is new to the hotel and has only been with us for 4 weeks. It is great to here that you enjoyed your stay, the staff I have here are wonderful hard workers and I have great pleasure in showing them these reviews as it boosts my staff morale. As they can see it’s not just I that appreciates their hard work. The Richardson Group are working hard to renovate the hotel to its natural beauty. This is not an overnight project, but we are focused on doing this as quickly as possible. Again, thank you and I look forward to hopefully meeting you in the near future.

We booked a 2 night stay here, having watched the tv series, the hotel. To be honest the hotel is rather run down, very 70s! But we weren't expecting anything more! The hotels new restaurant was great, I had the pork belly and it was very pleasing on the palate and presented to a very high standard! Excellent location, a 10 min stroll along the lovely promenade to the centre - where there are loads of shops, bars and restaurants. Our room was very small and quite tatty and shabby, but we didn't spend much time in there so was ok. We saw the curly haired receptionist from the tv series Elaine I think she is called, but most of the others have gone now :( Will def return in the summer!

Room Tip: We stayed in room 30 which was tiny!

The Richardson Group purchased the hotel in October 2012. As you have said the hotel does need some TLC which we are currently in the process of decorating, and renovating. Thank you for the kind comments with regards to your meals. We employed Ricco our new head executive chef, in January and he has worked very hard to raise the standards in the two restaurants in the hotel. We are in a brilliant location and I look forward to welcoming you back in the near future, so you can see the massive improvements in the hotel.
