Old fashioned service, excellent food, good choice and a new menu every day. How they do it I've no idea but it is wonderful. Just go.

We booked the Palace for Sunday lunch for 19 after our son's confirmation, and we're delighted. My wife had arranged the booking and although we had to adjust numbers a couple of times there were no problems.
When we arrived an area of seating in the bar was reserved where we had drinks before being taken through to the restaurant. We had reserved the small Georgian Room for our party.
The food and service were excellent, and it is lovely to be able to relax in the lounge for coffee afterwards with no pressure of time. As the weather was good the children ran into the beautiful gardens to explore.
And the price was excellent.
Whilst some may find it too formal, we love the atmosphere and the quality of the service - proper linen napkins and delicious butter to go with the Melba Toast!
Once again, thank you!
The hotel has seen its better days but the grounds are beautiful and facilities very good. Even the the dining room was better than expected, though the average age is north of 70.
But and it is a big BUT...
The staff were so rude and even refused to make us drinks after dinner and told us that "we were keeping them there"!! This is at 10:30pm and the bar is apparenty open until the last guest leaves. We had already spent over £500 for dinner. When confronting the manager he with no apology said "their usually home by now" that was it. This was a constant thyme through out are stay and made my mothers 65 birthday treat a real disappointment.
