“Super subtle Flavours”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 3, 2013

Probably the best Indian cuisine we have encountered in the U.K. recently. Plenty of choice with clear explanations and the option to vary the degree of spice heat. Very prettily presented , portions not too large and not greasy at all. Really lovely subtle spice flavours;chef is from Southern India and this is reflected in the rather gentler end of that cuisine which is served here.
The only minor niggles were the lighting which made it difficult to read the menu, the price of a pint of lager (£4.95) and service being a little slow as there was only one person serving and there were some big parties in.
Prices for food and wine are average and good value for the quality.
Overall, a very enjoyable night out and highly recommended.

“LOVELY FOOD BUT EXCESSIVE WAIT”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 31, 2013

We visited this restaurant in the summer whilst on holiday. Usually one of us drives if we go out in the evening but on this occasion as we were staying nearby we decided to walk and share a bottle of something. We didn't bother to book and came across this restaurant going in almost as soon as it opened in the early evening. The owner was clearly very knowledgeable, friendly and polite and we ordered our starters together with a bottle of wine. We then had to wait for almost 45 minutes after finishing our starters before we received our main course. After that we decided not to have dessert but moved on to coffee. The restaurant was not particularly busy so goodness knows what it would be like if filled to capacity! After ordering we waited almost half an hour and actually had had enough by then so called the owner over and asked for the bill cancelling our coffee order. We could not fault the food it was delicious if not a little expensive but we would have felt it was worth it had we not had such a ridiculously long wait.

“Excellent South Indian - a must”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 29, 2013

I had lunch here with a friend on Saturday. We are both fans of South Indian food and this didn't disappoint. Although the vegetarian options were limited on the lunch menu, the owner/chef (Collin) was quick to offer alternatives, all of which were freshly cooked. Collin clearly has a passion for providing great food and creating interesting dishes with a fusion approach and this translates to the food on your plate. I would urge anyone living in or visiting the Torquay area to give it a try and can highly recommend the dosa. Just wish I was closer...

“Excesive wait though”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 23, 2013

A group of 6 of us visited earlier this month. No question about the quality of food but the wait between starter and main course was in my opinion excesive. The starters were small (as stated) but the delay in serving the main course was in excess of 1 hour. The Chef was very informative explaining the menu to all the customers which is great but who was cooking the meals! The waitress was very busy which meant we had to keep asking for drinks and even had to remind her to clear unwanted glasses and crockery. As I said the food was very good but for a bill of £260 I think they could improve on the service and excesive delays. I also thought the decor and ambiance could be improved in line with other top Torquay restaurants
