It was made clear to us that Lavani prides itself on its seafood, and we were quite happy to oblige by ordering amongst other things, scallops, salmon and monkfish. 5 of us dined, and all agreed the salmon was fantastic. No one was disappointed, the pigeon breast starter was lovely, but the calf's liver was even better. Good to see an Indian restaurant make clear on the menu that its produce is local with its Devon lamb shank, pork loin etc.
The menu may seem expensive but most dishes include a combination of rice, potato and naan, which actually makes it cheaper than most of its competition.
We were served by the owner, who talked us through the menu and why he put certain dishes on there. If the rest of the staff are half as informative this place should do very well.
I would not hesitate in going back.
