“Nice but dated”
Reviewed January 28, 2011

Stayed here on coach tour. Great location. Very clean hotel with excellent service. The staff could never do enough for you. The only down sides are the decor is very dated and the shower cubical in my room was so small opening i scraped my belly and back to get in and out. Ok i have a 42 inch waist.

This is without doubt the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, but to be fair to the staff they tried very hard to make us welcome and give good service. But everything was stacked against them. Our room was on the top floor, it was clean but very dated. The water ran so so slow we couldn't have a bath. We never seemed to have any hot water. There were set times in the restaurant for breakfast and dinner. This put the staff under enormous pressure. The entertainment on Saturday evening was good. Santa visited and gave all the guests a small present. I must say the comedian was good.

This is definately one for the Hotel Inspector! Lets start with the pre 1970s tele wired to a light switch with a green line down the middle and flickering from black and white to colour. A room not much bigger than a rabbit hutch, curtains one patterned and one plain. A toilet where you have to take your trousers down prior to entering as it was to small. It was a work of art to have a shower. Green bacon for breakfast one morning and the smell in the dining room was appalling. A swimming pool which was broke for 3 days butmaybe that was a blessing! Entertainment well i wont go there. Will not be revisitng!!!!!!

very good value for money. ok it is'nt 4 star but the facilities are briliant for this type of hotel. The swimming pool and sauna are very good and the entertainment was better than expected. Food was adequate and overall pretty good. What made the holiday was the relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Ok the bedrooms are small and basic but clean what more do you want. Would definitely return.

We were placed in this hotel at short notice due to a water leak at our original hotel. As we had finally arrived just before midnight after a long drive, we were just glad to have somewhere to sleep. Unfortunately, the room we were given was cramped, hot, smelly and not in the best decorative order. There were pubic hairs in the bed and grubby marks all over the walls.

The room was so small that you had to squeeze around the bottom of the bed to get to the bathroom, which was like stepping back into the 1970's! The decor was probably older than me and there were mobility aide handles for the toilet and bath, which is ironic as you'd have to be able-bodied to even get past the bed!

There were no glasses, just plastic beakers, which were brown in the bottom and there was no shower. There was a TV bracket mounted on the wall (at a handy height to hit your head on as you walked in), but the TV was on the dressing table. There was also a gap at the bottom of the main door (which didn't lock) of at least an inch, so we ended up having to place bags in front of it in an attempt to block out the light coming from the hallway!

Finally, breakfast was acceptable although the sugar was welded to the bottom of the sugar bowl (although there was plenty of sugar loose on the shelf that I mistakenly leaned on!) and a request for orange juice resulted in half a glass each. The toast was cold and the waitresses were lacklustre at best. As a final insult to injury, they tried to make us pay again, even though we had paid at the point of booking!

Needless to say, we went back to our original hotel straight after breakfast and told them about our terrible night at the Burlington - they upgraded us to a suite so we promptly returned our key to the Burlington and had a much better second night!

staff here very happy to help in any way.rooms very small bathrooms tiny no hairdrier so you need to take your own, not a bad size pool either and water was warm.food was good, one night we had lamb and it was delicious. not a bad walk to town but a bit hard going walking back up good job there are plenty of busses passing hotel. dont expect too much entertainment wise as it's typical hotel artists.tv up on stand on wall gave a sore neck looking up at it.not bad for 2 nights but would not have wanted to stayed any longer.
