“Would definitely return to The Charterhouse”

The en suite room was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Marion and Les are very welcoming and extremely well informed of the area, restaurants and days out. The location is relaxing, but within walking distance of bars and restaurants in one diresction, and the picturesque village of Cockington in the other direction.

We have just returned from a two night stay at the Charterhouse and were very pleased with everything about our stay. The room we stayed in was very clean and comfortable, with big sash windows and a sea view. There was a very good selection available at breakfast with a hot breakfast buffet that was freshly cooked and very tasty. Marion and Les were both very welcoming and were full of tips and suggestions on where to eat, what to see and how to get around Torquay. The Charthouse is situated within easy walking distance of Torquay and a short drive/bus ride from Paignton, so we cannot fault the location. We would happily recommend the Charterhouse to family and friends.

The Charterhouse really is something special. We have stayed at a number of hotels and guesthouses over the years but in all honesty none has made us feel as welcome from the first minute as here. Marion met us and over a most welcome cup of tea and biscuits we chatted about family whilst she told us about the local attractions and places to eat.
We had booked a Superior Room and it was exactly as we had hoped for. Nice size, clean, airy and a lovely sunny aspect.
Breakfasts were something to enjoy, with what seemed an endless supply of food available.
Location - couldnt be better. Close enough to enjoy a walk along the sea front into Torquay but far enough out for peace and quiet
Atrractions - Marion told us about Cockington Court which is a short stroll up the lane. What a beautiful place. We could go back there time and time again just for the Cream Teas!
Our Hosts - the best for last. Marion and Les were so charming and welcoming. Very quickly we felt like we had known them for years
Our Advice? - Dont miss out on the chance to stay there, you will love it.

My elderly mother and I stayed here last week and can't speak highly enough of the great hospitality offered to us by Marion and Les. Arriving on a hot day, we were immediately offered a drink - and enjoyed a lovely glass of cold apple juice. The twin room on the ground floor suited us really well - and was immaculately clean - as was the rest of the hotel. The breakfasts were very good - locally sourced produce and cooked to perfection. There were families with children and couples staying at the same time - and it all worked out really well for us. We'll certainly be back next year.

I recently stayed at Marion and Geoff's hotel. It was lovely. It was only a hundred yards off the main beachfront road but could have been another world, it was so peaceful. Just further up the road was the most beautiful thatched pub I have seen. Marion was a great hostess and I enjoyed the cooked breakfasts - made a nice change. The room was well appointed, comfortable and clean. I don't usually sleep too well in foreign beds, but I did here - the highest accolade I can give !

We had chosen Charterhouse after reading reviews on tripadvisor and were not disappointed. On arrival, the human dynamo that is Marion greeted us with biscuits and hot drinks, most welcome after our journey. She then asked us what we wanted to visit in the area and gave us appropriate leaflets and advice. We had booked a superior room which was well furnished with enough hanging space and lots of drawers. Everything was very clean Our room looked out over the garden and Torbay. We found the location quiet and slept like logs! The hotel was not full on the first two nights of our stay, so breakfasts were cooked to order. When the dining room was full and the breakfast buffet in use, with frequent replenishments, Marion cooked our daughter's egg individually. Nothing was too much trouble for Marion and Les and we felt like old friends by the end of our visit. When Marion discovered it was my birthday on the last day of our week, I came back to the room to find chocolates and a card.

We loved our room, with an adjoining room for our children. Everything was beautifully presented, clean and tidy. The rooms were spacious and the breakfasts were wonderful.
Our hosts went out of their way to accomodate our needs and were helpful, offering advice and information on sights and attractions in the area.
