I stayed at the Derwent again just after Easter, we stayed HB with an excellent offer with children 10 and under staying free.
The room we had this time was an excellent size, 2 ad 2 ch in a L shape, i'd say it was double the size from last year.
Great facilities with indoor pools and leisure activities for adults and children in the day and evening. Evening entertainment for kids and adults in the large lounge but can use any of the other bars around the complex.
What I would say is that drink prices are a bit steep, they have a happy hour in the games lounge which is a good offer for £2.20 a pint and house wine. in the main function room its nearly £3 for a large coke, well over £3 for a beer, house wine cheapest nearly £14 a bottle ( do the math per glass) and nearly £4 for a magners. The offer on the spirits of upgrading from a single £2.40 for a double for an extra £1.20 is not to bad but then your stung with a very small orange juice for £1.60 on top, kids fruit shoot I think we're £1.60. Even when the room is full, the bar is never busy so this shows that prices need to be looked at. They do AI drinks packages outside school hols so I guess this could be a good deal.
Now to leave on a positive, the service in the dining room is excellent and very quick, food was very good, hot and well above 2* hotel rating with the staff being very friendly and helpful..
Overall we had a great stay and
Because the room was so nice and homely, I could of stayed longer and because i felt comfortable with the surroundings.

Thanks for taking the time to post your review. I am pleased you liked your room and found our staff to be helpful and friendly. We hope our drinks are not too expensive and as a frequent hotel visitor myself I don't think they are. We do however put on some special offers such as 'Happy hour' and our ‘double up’ to make them even better value. Hope to see you again soon. Kindest regards

The hotel did what was expected. Breakfasts were adequate, dinners too. Nothing to write home about but nothing offensive. The facilities were tired. At first glance the swimming was lovely but as you spent time in the pool, jacuzzi and sauna things were more tired and needed repair or cleaning. Again, it was adequate, but showering facilities were poor and the toilets stank!

Bedrooms were clean and well looked after if a little in need for refurbishment, I was disappointed not to have a bath and consumable resources were scarce. Take your own shower gel, shampoo etc.

for the children there is a games room with pool, snooker, table tennis, arcade games and bowling. All cost extra but this was a nice enough place to pass an hour or two with a fully stocked bar for the adults.

The best thing about the resort is the staff. This they have right! Every single member of staff was excellent. Polite, helpful, friendly and went the extra mile. Whomever is responsible for staff training needs special commendation as no matter who we interacted with, restaurant manager to cleaner they were similarly professional and friendly.

I would not return but I can't say it was horrendous, I was simply underwhelmed.

Thank you for your review. We have some major refurbishments projects going on at present including some areas within a pools and bedrooms. I am not sure why you say that there was not enough shower gel and shampoo. This must have been an oversight on our housekeeper part. I am sorry that that seems to have been missed from your room. I am really please you found our staff to be well trained and helpful, we spend a lot of time and effort making sure we get that right. Again thanks for taking the time to post your review. Kindest regards

Yes this is our 16th year of visiting tlh (mostly the Derwent) we just love having all the facilitys of a really good holiday park ,but the luxury of having your meals in the resturant served to you and also at the end of the night dancing ,bowling ,quizing ,watching the kids make friends,or just a relaxing drink you don't have to venture outside (with recent weather)to go to your bedroom (like holiday parks) We really enjoy having all the facilitys within the comlex of the four hotels and our Daughter loves it too, always looking forward to returning

I have just returned from a weeks stay with my husband and sister. We travelled down with a coach party organised by Dunwwod Travel. We were really looking forward to our break, but instead ended up disappointed.
Our rooms were on the 3rd floor and badly needed refurbishing, the carpet in our room was threadbare, the wash basin was outside of the bathroom and the bathroom itself was extremely small having to manouvre in the bathroom before being able to shut the door, the flooboards were uneven and our bed sloped. My sister had the rough end of the deal being in a single room, which was clean and carpet ok, but again was very small we nicknamed it the 'cupboard'. The stairs to our floor were very narrow and only wide enough for one person to pass, again the carpet was threadbare and in places was taped down.
The swimming pool and leisure facilities good, the food was ok but the dining area was more like a canteen with fomica table tops and no table cloths.
The entertainment was mixed two good nights of good entertainment and two that we wish we had missed.
The service was good our waiter was helpful and friendly
We would not visit or recommend this hotel again unless it was refurbished extensively.

Room Tip: View the room first before booking in.

Thank you for taking the time to post your review. We are currently refurbishing 6-8 rooms every three weeks at the Derwent. This will continue throughout the coming year. I have had very good feedback from many of the groups that travelled with Dunwoods, some 300+ guests during the week you stayed. I do hope that you choose to visit with Dunwoods next year and see the improvements to rooms we have made. You are welcome to contact me at the hotel prior to travelling should you wish to check on the progress we have made. Kindest regards

Decided at the last minute to go away.Found this place via Google. We had the breakfast and evening meal package.
We stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment in the Victoria hotel. We had a kitchen, a lounge and a toilet with shower and bath. This was perfect for children as they had there own bedroom and we had some peace as well!
The swimming pool and leisure complex was really good.If we wanted we could have spent all the 48hours in there! There was a good soft play area and ten pin bowling.
We will back later in the year.Thank you very much

We stayed at the Torak hotel ,what a great hotel to stay in ,room was very good with all the extras ,and quailtity you want from a 3 star hotel.
food 1st class, entertainment ,day and night was again top class, and the indoor pools are the best i have seen ,better than any 4-5 star hotels in the area.
would recommend ,as the place to go for a weekend break.

we have been dancing Ballroom and Social sequence for many years now with the TLH, is has been so good we actually do our own dance holidays there now, very well organised for group booking, lovely dance floors in all 4 hotels,we usually book all the apartments, so our dancers have a kitchen and lounge for the same price as a room for two, fantastic deal, we are coming again the year in October, if you are dancers please join us,
