We chose this hotel via trip advisor and booked on line for two nights at this charming boutique style guest house - in what appeared to us to be a lovely part of Torquay.

Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by Chris the owner offered a drink and an opportunity to relax and re-group after our four hour drive before being shown to our room.

The accommodation was simply stunning. A spacious king size bed in a beautiful minimalist loft style space with elegant sofa and 42” flat screen tv. A deck area with table chairs two loungers and a swing. A simply superb bathroom comprising free standing bath with TV above, an excellent shower space, sink and lavatory.

Breakfast at Meadfoot Bay is of limited duration 8.30am to 9.30 – consequently the breakfast room is very busy – however the service was speedy and the help yourself buffet amazingly extensive and quite excellent. Cooked breakfast is individually ordered – and was also first class.

Both evenings we ate locally and returned to Meadfoot for a welcome nightcap in their dinky bar area and enjoyed the opportunity to chat with Garry (son of Chris) and a simply delightful well mannered young man with a genuine desire to make guests’ stay as enjoyable as possible.

If you plan to visit Torquay do take a look at Meadfoot Bay – it represents value for money and for us was an excellent and enjoyable experience.

Room Tip: we had room 22 and B&B was £145 per night

We stayed at the Meadfoot Bay after trying to book a stay here for the last few summers but unfortunately for us they were always full. We ended up staying in Torquay but more towards the harbour on our last visits, but we prefer the Meadfoot area and Meadfoot beach and this place looked so perfect every time we walked by.

We fully agree with all the positive reviews on here and this place is just perfect. We brought my parents down for their 25th wedding anniversary and as it was a special occasion we treated ourselves to the suite with terrace and my parents to the Signature Suite with terrace. The pictures and videos do not do the rooms justice,as they are really something special. Everything is top quality from the furniture to the appliances with the comfiest bed I have ever slept in.

We did our research on getting the right place to stay and I cannot recommend the Meadfoot Bay highly enough. We knew before arrival, after speaking to one of the owners (Chris),that the rooms we were booking were on the second floor and were informed that there was no lift. We expected lots of stairs, but in all honesty it was like going up your stairs at home. My parents are getting on alittle and they had no problems whatsoever. We didn't even have to carry our bags to the rooms as Gary and Chris kindly offered to do this for us. We didn't even have to lift them out of the car!!!

The suites are gorgeous with laminate wood flooring, bespoke furniture and great little touches. It just seems as though they had thought of everything. My father loved having the LCD in his bathroom as well,so much so he asked the owner where he could buy one for his bathroom :-) We noticed a bit of a negative comment by another reviewer who mentioned the rooms let in too much light. This surprises me as the rooms have blackout blinds and we had no issues sleeping in and no light was let in... I'm guessing they perhaps didn't understand how blinds work...

Breakfast is wonderful with everything cooked fresh using local ingredients. There was a massive selection on offer in addition to the cooked option, including fresh fruits, yoghurts, breads and bagels,cereals,juices...the list is endless and all served with a smile :-)

We have already booked in for next year for the same rooms and we just pray that we get exactly the same amazing weather that we did this time around.

Thank you Gary,Chris and Caroline for such a great stay. You deserve all the nice things that are said on tripadvisor,as I have never seen such a hard working family.

Room Tip: We loved the Suite with terrace and my parents loved the Signature Suite.

My husband and I returned for a 6th stay at the Meadfoot Bay Hotel this July this year for 3 nights instead of our usual 2. We stayed this time in the new Suite With Terrace, which did not disappoint. It is a huge modern room with all the facilities you could need and more. The bathroom is a large wet room, which I now absolutely need at home! We had a bottle of Prosseco chilling in our room on arrival and also enjoyed a pitcher of Pimm's whilst relaxing on our private terrace (not at the same time!) As always there was a huge choice for breakfast both cooked and buffet, which did my waistline no favours! Chris, Caroline and Gary the owners are always welcoming and friendly it's becoming a home away from home.

Now all I need to do is to persuade the parents to have the children again next year and sneak away to The Meadfoot Bay Hotel (I wonder if we can wangle 4 nights next time...)

We booked this hotel last minute and was not disappointed! We stayed in the signature suite which was charming. The furnishing and fixtures were tasteful and modern. The outside private terrace was a great location for sundowners! We found the owners to be wonderful hosts and the breakfast service was imaginative, fresh and cooked to order. A previous reviewer noted an issue with the water pressure and whilst we would agree this could be better it would not deter us from a return visit. The blinds did allow too much early sunlight into the room but as we were not sleeping in it was not an issue. Our only real disappointment was only being able to stay one night!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful small family run hotel. With busy lives, a hectic schedule and with two young children we have really struggled to get away to celebrate our anniversary in the last few years. This year we decided we would and the perfect solution was to not travel too far from home so decided on Torquay. The choice was quite overwhelming but after reading a lot of reviews and looking at many websites we chose The Meadfoot Bay. We wanted a smaller hotel / Guest House and not anything too big but definitely larger than a one or two bedroom B&B.

The hotel did not disappoint and we were made to feel so welcome from the start to the end of our stay. The hotel is run by a family of 3 and they put the heart and soul into making the hotel a truly wonderful place to stay. We booked the new Signature Suite with Terrace and I can safely say it is the best room we have ever stayed in. Everything has been thought of and the attention to detail quite unbelievable. It was the cleanest room I have ever stayed in and this was especially pleasing as we have to have a clean place to stay when away.

The room has everything you could want with its own terrace to sit out and enjoy the sunshine. The bathroom is also gorgeous tiled top to bottom with all modern appliances. It has a walk in wet room style shower and a large bath from which you can watch your own TV in the Bath! Amazing. The room had great little other touches including a welcome drink, leather sofa to watch the massive LCD TV, an ironing centre and even an Ipod Speaker dock!

The hotel lounges are very elegant and the perfect place to relax, I really liked how the owners have struck the perfect balance of keeping the lounges very in keeping with the style of the Victorian Villa but have made the bedrooms modern. We enjoyed a pitcher of Pimms in the hotel bar before heading out for dinner at The Elephant Restaurant which was also amazing and is highly recommended.

Breakfast the next morning was cooked to order and you could tell it was fresh. I have never seen such a large selection. Many thanks to all and hope to come back again next year!!!

We booked this over the phone while driving down to the  coast, he talked up the room so upon inspection on arrival, it did look good.  Chris assured me he would give did a hand with our bags as the suite was on the top floor, NO LIFT ......when we unpacked the car he was nowhere to be seen.  Good points of their top suite room,  the view, and the dressing  gowns. Now for the facts..
Vertical white blinds which are ineffective as this room is too light and the sun shines in very early so no chance of a sleep in.  The water pressure is non existent  , the shower is a trickle,  bathroom  is highly dangerous when wet ( which it is  going to be all the time...) , the tv in the bathroom did not work, and there  is no room phone to call down to...., no face cloths in bathroom,( travelled In 1000s hotels etc and this would be the first place not to have them)  the tv in The main Room is too dark to watch for any length of time , I specifically asked if the above floors were creaky and was assured we would not hear anything but we did.  The best thing was a good hearty breakfast and checking  out.  Please do our research before being swayed  by these other reviews, trip advisor does not usually let us down, but on this occasion it did. I suggest the owners stay a night in this room to confirm my review then do some adjustments to their 'top' room.
