We stayed here for a short mid week break after Christmas. The hotel have spent a lot of money recently on the refurb of communal areas and rooms and they all look great. I was also inform that a huge refurb of the Gym will take place in a couple of months!! The service and food we recieved in the restaurant were unbelievable and the reception staff could not do enough for us. The weather was very bad indeed but the view was still amazing. I would definatley recommend this hotel.

Have stayed at the Osborne twice a year of long weekends for a number of years and cannot understand the poor reviews it has been given. Stayed again 20/23 October 2006, room was superb (it was a superior sea view room). The food was excellent served with a smile and we were given just enough time between courses to savour what we had just eaten. The reception/lounge area have been tastefully refurbished. We asked if we needed help when we visited the gym. All in all a lovely weekend spent in a lovely hotel. Couldn't fault anything. It was value for money.

The sea view superior room was nice and spacious although not luxurious. The carpets have now been removed and have been replaced with a wooden floor, this is nicer but does leave a somewhat cold feel to the room. All that is required is a large quality rug at the end of the bed. The picture on the wall is cheap and looks somewhat tacky. The bed itself was reasonably comfortable, however, the sheets / blanket are not of a good quality, they are not even large enough to cover the bed. The bathroom was spacious and nice decorated but with virtually no shelve space we had no option but to leave our toiletries inside our wash bags and place them on the floor. This was absurd as the bathroom itself was very large.

Now onto dinner, I will give you a step by step account. We booked a table for 20:00 and arrived at 20:05. We were given menus in the lounge and had a cocktail, we both ordered soup then a pasta / steak. Seated in the restaurant at 20:25 the soup arrived (several complaints later) at 21:30 the main courses at 22:00. To compound the problem we had arranged to meet friends at 21:30 and had to have our desserts and coffee in our room.

You can't beat the view that's what you are paying over £200.00 for.

Oh well “c'est la vie”
