“Wonderful Views”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 15, 2013

We had a wonderful relaxing week at The Osborne Hotel.

The weather was excellent and showed up the grandeur of this place.

The rooms were comfortable and spacious, the staff very attentative and the food was very good too. If intending to stay here it is worth paying a supplement to have a front room with balcony.

The outdoor pool and tennis court was well maintained and subscribed to, The indoor swimming pool and gym were very good as well. But the only downside of the whole week was the changing facilities, which were very small and had no privacy for changing.

If the management addressed this matter, I would have no hesitation in recommending this place for a 5 star rating.

We will certainly return.

Room Tip: Ask for a front room with balcony when making reservation.

Had a lunch with family on the terrace from the Brasserie. Hot Mackerel salad. Looked very appetizing, lovely fresh and crunchy salad, hot new buttered potatoes, home made coleslaw and delicious fish which tasted chargrilled. So flavoursome! Family were impressed with the look and taste of theirs too. Meals were around £9 each. Sandwiches and paninis etc were around £6 if you want to opt for a cheaper lunch. Well worth a visit for a local and fab views!

We stay here regularly both at the hotel and the timeshare apartments. It is a stunning location away from the hustle and bustle of Torquay and meadfoot beach is lovely. Hotel has good pools and great food. It is like a secret that once people find out about they keep coming back to. Good for kids. No chavs ;)

I haven't been to Torquay for 30 years and decided to visit for the Spring Bank Holiday. We booked the Osbourne which I remember as being a really 'up-market' hotel at Meadfoot Beach.
We paid extra for a sea view room and we were given a spacious double with a 4 poster bed. The views were amazing. There are also balcony rooms but the hotel staff informed me that they get taken very quickly and we were told you need to book in advance. The terrace was really nice for a relaxing drink although the drinks were very expensive.

We will certainly be back. The breakfast was a cold buffet but hot food was cooked to order which was nice. I would have liked a slightly later time to get to breakfast of say 10 o,clock and 10.30 at weekends, as 9.30 is a bit early when on holiday!!There is a bus into Torquay which stops oppositie if you don't want to take the car or it is a short walk . Car parking was free and we arrived at 4.30 and parked quite easily. My only suggestions would be for a hotel of this calibre it would be good to have a mini bar in the room. Also, the room was quite stuffy not air conditioned but a fan may have helped. We ate in the restaurant and also the bistro and had very generous sized portions it would have been nice to see more locally caught fish on the menu however an excellent venue.

Room Tip: It was well worth paying the extra for a sea view. Room was very clean and well equipped, a mini bar...

We spent a lovely Bank Holiday week-end at the Osborne. We had a fabulous room with a sea view. The patio area has a breath taking view of the bay and was a perfect place to spend early evening catching the last of the sun. Breakfast was great. We also enjoyed the gym - equipment is very good. Staff are friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Go for a sea view since the location provides a wonderful and clear view of the bay.

Enjoyed a 4 night stay, to enjoy some chill time for my birthday

From the moment my wife and I arrived, everything was a breeze

Staff exceptionally helpful, we arrived early booked in early as room was ready

Room was newly decorated, fresh, clean and a good size. We were rear facing, but not an issue as we had chosen this option.
Bed was King size and very comfortable, plenty of lighting, storage, with in built wardrobe, and side tables, lockers and kneehole dresser, all new.

Side chairs and table looked new and retro.

No mini fridge, would have been nice as I had some chocolate for birthday and would like to have kept it cool

TV wall mounted and good reception. Perhaps a docking station for Ipod/iPhone would have been better than the radio alarm, but again marginal issue

Room service daily was efficient

Bathroom was clean and the suite had been recently replaced with new.

Only concern in bathroom was a lack of rail or hooks for the wet swimming costumes, over the bath.

Food was superb, evening menu, chosen and cooked to your requirements, I as a carnivore had plenty of choice, and it was all well cooked, my Wife being Veggie, had smaller choices, but when we spoke with reception we may have ordered a selection of our choice so long as it was ordered early in the day for the chef to be able to accommodate our request - not many hotel's offer this service!!

Waiting staff were excellent well prepared, knew how to look after you, and you were treated not only as a customer, but a person.

Breakfast was great, plenty of choice, including porridge on request, and some really good choices for the hot options, to an extent where I did not need to go to the Fried Breakfast option.

We booked our meal time slot for the entire 4 days, and ended up with a good table position every day

Lounge bar area, felt a bit 'old style', maybe a more modern shift to this area would encourage a bit more drinking.

Swimming pool area was clean and tidy, and water clean and plenty warm enough !!!

Changing rooms were a bit on the need refurb side, but they were there to provde a change and shower facility, we took our clothes into the pool area as plenty of chairs to place them on.

I used the gym a few times, and on first visit was taken through some routines for my preference of workout, and the instructors took time to make sure you knew how to use the equipment, key here is tell them what you want to do and they will advise. They were another great asset to the team at the Osborne.

The brasserie was tried on day one, and used for drinks after, food and service was good, just remember it is a hotel so prices are higher than you would pay in town, but quality was better by a long chalk.

So all in all a really good standard, be proud of what you have and maintain or even exceed this level.

Just returned from a short stay here. We live in Torquay and i wanted to treat my wife to a night of luxury and we were not dispointed!! The staff are amazing, so friendly and nothis was to much trouble. Our room was amazing overlooking the bay. Well furnished with a 4 poster bed. The evening meal was superb as was the service. We opted for breakfast in bed and it arrived piping hot. We are planning to make this a regular thing to do and it will always be the Osborne. Go you wont be dissapointed
