Excellent Bed & Breakfast on the Downs at Babbacombe. Superb view from front rooms which are spacious, newly decorated and come with all the niceties expected from grander establishments. Martine and John are excellent hosts for whom nothing seems too much trouble but they are non intrusive. This is a well run establishment and they make it look easy! As the Berkeley is also a tea room there is food and drink available all day if required. Lots of facilities within easy reach including safe parking and access to local transport if you want to give the car a rest. Ideal spot to tour both Devon and Cornwall.

Room Tip: Front rooms are 7 and 9

We spent the last night of our holiday in Torbay at Berkeley House B&B in Babbacombe, Torquay, after 2 weeks camping in the area.

We thought we'd treat ourselves to a night of civilisation in this great bay location to enjoy a sunset over the water in our balcony room.

On entering the small looking bed and breakfast we were delighted to find the room of a very good size with a large bathroom.

The facilities were excellent, cleanliness was perfect, tea and coffee facilities as standard in the room. The lovely surprise was the tv with freeview and dvd player in our room and the large selection of DVDs and books on offer for guests to use at reception. After a rainy evening in Torquay, we planned to enjoy an evening on the balcony watching the sun over the bay. Unfortunately with the clouds and rain this was not possible so did plump for one of the DVDs. This was a lovely thought by the owners.
We did spend some of the night outside watching the lights out at sea and over the bay which is a beautiful setting.

The bed was brilliant, great nights sleep and the showers in the morning was exactly what was needed. All rather new and very satisfying.

In the morning, breakfast was had in the tea rooms, ordered the night before. And quite honestly the best scrambled egg I have ever had, and I don't even like egg!
Beautiful cooked breakfast with a great choice of cereals and fruits to help yourself to.

John and Martine were wonderful hosts, very friendly and smiley but also respected your privacy.

One night in the top floor double room with balcony view was £70 for two sharing. Quite a bargain at high summer!

Parking is also free in the carpark behind for residents.

Definitely a great place to stay if you would like to spend a day or two in the quiet but picturesque Babbacombe Bay!

My girlfriend and I stayed at Berkeley House from the 9th to the 14th August and I cannot write enough superlatives about the place. Firstly, how modern, comfortable, spacious and well-priced the accommodation itself is but also, more importantly, how warm, friendly and generally helpful the owners Jon and Martine were. They bent over backwards to ensure that we enjoyed our holiday to it’s very utmost. To cite just a few examples, neither my girlfriend nor I drive so we had to get the train to Torquay and once there, get around on the bus. Jon and Martine picked us up from the station on arrival, cooked breakfast for us a little bit early one day so we could get the bus to Dartmoor and even dropped our luggage off at the station for us on our return journey – along with a packed lunch for us both, it’s personal touches like this which went towards making their place such a pleasure to stay at. They went out of their way for us all week and ensured we had a holiday we will never forget. I could not recommend this place more highly – if not for all of the above, because the breakfast is absolutely cracking, 100% perfectly cooked fried eggs every single morning!

We booked a few nights away in Babbacombe, last minute. John and Martine were very accomodating and made us feel right at home from the very start.

The B&B is located in the middle of Babbacombe Seafront so everything is a very short distance from where you are. Lots of places to eat and drink close by. There is an amazing view from the front over the bay and is lovely to sit and look out while eating your breakfast. Martine cooks up a fantastic full english breakfast and John always make sure you have enough toast or tea and coffee.

We had a very comfortable room with ensuite bathroom, both were very clean and well maintained. Complimentary tea and coffee making faciities which is always a big plus for me. Room had flat screen tv with dvd player, and they have a large dvd collection which they don't mind you borrowing for those early nights or rainy days.

They have free parking and are very lenient with regards to 24 hour access, and things like bringing take-away food to your room. I would definitely consider returning to this B&B.
