Owner description: Kents Cavern is by far Britain's most important prehistoric cave used by ancient humans for the last 500,000 years including Neanderthals and early modern humans. The caves are open every day for guide tours, 7 days a week with natural caverns, amazing natural formations, remains of mammoth, woolly rhino, sabre-toothed cats, an Ice Age woodland trail quest, nice shop and cafe with views over the Ilsham Valley. The closest hotel to the attraction is the Gleneagles, inspiration for TV's Fawlty Towers. We are 2km from Torquay Harbour and only 15 mins walk from the South West Coast Path and local beaches, well-known to previous visitors like Agatha Christie, Beatrix Potter, George V, Alfred Wallace and Charles Darwin. Perfect for a rainy or sunny day by the seas, winter or summer.

“Well worth a trip!!!”
Reviewed August 3, 2013

We had a fantastic tour guide, Hannah, who was very informative and interesting, she even made my little boys' day by letting him be the tour guide (Dylan), a fascinating experience with lots to see!! Will be back! :-)

“amazing caves to rival anywhere else in the world!”
Reviewed July 30, 2013

I was surprised when I visited the caves, I never expected them to be that good. I've seen spectacular caves in other parts of the world, like Kango Caves in South Africa, yet these caves are facinating and a marvel of nature. A must see attraction if you're visiting Torquay! Great for kids to have adventures and for parents alike...

“Be amazed”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

Because the entrance to Kents Cavern isn't surrounded by soaring cliffs, the caverns themselves are even more stunning. No one could fail to be impressed & the guide will give you plenty of facts taking you right back to prehistoric times. You will forget modern Torquay is outside! A magical place to visit for old&young especially on one of our notorious wet Summer days.
