Owner description: Kents Cavern is by far Britain's most important prehistoric cave used by ancient humans for the last 500,000 years including Neanderthals and early modern humans. The caves are open every day for guide tours, 7 days a week with natural caverns, amazing natural formations, remains of mammoth, woolly rhino, sabre-toothed cats, an Ice Age woodland trail quest, nice shop and cafe with views over the Ilsham Valley. The closest hotel to the attraction is the Gleneagles, inspiration for TV's Fawlty Towers. We are 2km from Torquay Harbour and only 15 mins walk from the South West Coast Path and local beaches, well-known to previous visitors like Agatha Christie, Beatrix Potter, George V, Alfred Wallace and Charles Darwin. Perfect for a rainy or sunny day by the seas, winter or summer.

“Fun, Educational afternoon”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 18, 2013

Spent an enjoyable afternoon at Kent's Cavern. The tour guide (Olly) was fun and knowledgable making the experience a positive one. He took great care to ensure the children in our tour were entertained. We ate in the restaurant where they served locally produced food. We chanced a walk around the grounds - which were nice but could do with a little care and attention after the winter season. A good place to start a walk to the seafront, but unfortunatley the weather was not on our side.

“Interesting but depends on the weather.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 15, 2013

Kent cavern was an interesting experience and i would suggest you visit weather permitting.

I was quite disappointed to pay £8.95 just for an hours entertainment. What we did receive was interesting but it was not quite a fun day out.

I believe that there would be more to do in summer season but going in march in the lovely English climate was not quite a fun day out. Paying £8.95 to go in and out seemed a bit disappointing.

All they need is an out of season price or offer more indoor activites so you have a little more to fill your day. Overall a good experience depending on the weather.
