Owner description: Kents Cavern is by far Britain's most important prehistoric cave used by ancient humans for the last 500,000 years including Neanderthals and early modern humans. The caves are open every day for guide tours, 7 days a week with natural caverns, amazing natural formations, remains of mammoth, woolly rhino, sabre-toothed cats, an Ice Age woodland trail quest, nice shop and cafe with views over the Ilsham Valley. The closest hotel to the attraction is the Gleneagles, inspiration for TV's Fawlty Towers. We are 2km from Torquay Harbour and only 15 mins walk from the South West Coast Path and local beaches, well-known to previous visitors like Agatha Christie, Beatrix Potter, George V, Alfred Wallace and Charles Darwin. Perfect for a rainy or sunny day by the seas, winter or summer.

Recently visited Kents Cavern for the first time. Very interesting and informative - the guide was easy to listen to, entertaining and knowledgable and pitched the information to suit both the youngsters and adults on the tour. Venue also includes a gift shop, cafe and woodland walk. All staff were friendly and helpful. Woodland walk not very long but pitched at youngsters I think, and those we saw whilst walking round were enjoying finding clues to complete a quiz. Would recommend, especially if looking for something to do on a rainy day.

i have recently visited kents cavern for the first time with my partner. on arrival i didnt know what to expect but when we entered the tour it was great. the tour guide gave a very in depth talk about everything to do with the caves, i wont go into detail as i dont want to spoil a trip. excellent if you like to learn new things, i felt like i was back in a school history lesson but i enjoyed every second of it!

Kents Cavern is a collection of prehistoric caves dating back to the Stone age. It is open all year and is easily accessible. The guides are brilliant and explain everything about the history of the caves on the tour and lasts for approximately one hour There is a gift shop, restaurant and woodland trail quest for children on site and the Cavern hosts various events throughout the year.

Thought we would try something a little different so we tried the promenade performance of Macbeth at Kents Cavern, limited to an audience of 40 you were right with the actors throughout. Very well acted an in a magical setting which really lent itself to the play. The only slight disappointment was that the advertising led me to believe that the performance would be going right through the cave system when really it used several areas but nothing like the whole system. Great use of the caves, highly recommended.

Great place, no matter how many times we have been to the caves there is always something new that we learn, the tour guides are excellent (well done Terry)
The cafe serves the best coffee around, and all the staff are so friendly.
We will be back
