Owner description: Kents Cavern is by far Britain's most important prehistoric cave used by ancient humans for the last 500,000 years including Neanderthals and early modern humans. The caves are open every day for guide tours, 7 days a week with natural caverns, amazing natural formations, remains of mammoth, woolly rhino, sabre-toothed cats, an Ice Age woodland trail quest, nice shop and cafe with views over the Ilsham Valley. The closest hotel to the attraction is the Gleneagles, inspiration for TV's Fawlty Towers. We are 2km from Torquay Harbour and only 15 mins walk from the South West Coast Path and local beaches, well-known to previous visitors like Agatha Christie, Beatrix Potter, George V, Alfred Wallace and Charles Darwin. Perfect for a rainy or sunny day by the seas, winter or summer.

“Fascinating”

A "must see" if you are in Torquay. We had been to Torquay many times, and were astonished to eventually find out what was under the ground. The young tour guide was keen and helpful, explained things very well and answered all questions. All very well-organised, and the cafe and grounds looked good, although we didn't have time to make the most if them.

Short bus ride from the town. The guide made the tour extremely interesting and we really enjoyed looking round the exhibition too.

“Really surprised”
Reviewed September 29, 2012

Visited Kents Cavern over the weekend, and all I can say is that we were really surprised.( only because the last time we visited was 20 years ago) The caves hadn't changed!!!!!! But, the site, the staff, facilities and cafe were all excellent. Special thanks to Ollie our tour guide, who was informative, very likeable and full of interesting facts. Well worth a day out. Thank you, Mark, Lucinda, William and 'the face' (mother-in-law)

Very well organized... you get a guide tour around all the cavern, in many hotels you can find the brochures to get a 15% discount.
