service upon arriving was very harsh and blunt from the manager we didn't get a "welcome to the Anchorage Hotel from Matthew his attitude stank he so has a big problem with customer care as when another guest stated to him unless you move me to another room i will go home his response was "hold on ill book you a taxi".
Food was terrible and very small portions much of came out of a packet of was frozen.
rooms were OK but in desperate need of upgrading .
And as for the so called Directors well i don't think he knows how to speak to his staff with respect at all he should realise the respect is earnt and not commanded.

Took my mother, through a local coach firm, for a 4 day break.
We loved the location, in a quiet area, but opposite bowl's club and tennis courts.
5 mins away from local shops; 10 mins to St Marychurch shopping area; 10 mins to promenade and beach.
Breakfast very good and evening meal good too - 3 courses with about 4 choices per course. Only criticism would be the vegetables, which were "tired" at times.
Outdoor pool with pleasant grounds.
Entertainment each evening, but I can't comment, as we did not partake.
Apparently, not all rooms have a shower, only a bath, so make sure you specify when booking.
Our twin room was fine, at the side of the building, but our shower had very little power and so showering took quite some time !
A young staff team, but helpful and always pleasant.
All in all, great value for money and we would happily return.

Room Tip: Ask for a higher floor, as floors and doors very squeaky !

We've used this hotel as a base for a cricket tour for the last two years and with a group between 30-65 over those years, the hotel has proved to be a great base for us.

The staff are all very friendly and cant do enough to help you. Its fair to say the hotels major market is the "elder" coach trip clients and they cater for that well with entertainment most nights with a biase towards that age group so dont expect any hip-hop on the dance floor!

There is plenty of car parking in the hotels facility or on adjacent roads all free of charge. Its a few minutes walt into Babbacombe itself and about 10 into St Marychurch where there is a wider selection of shops. Torquay is a 10 minute bus ride away of a £5 taxi ride

While the rooms are basic, they provide good value and are always clean with decent facilities. The breakfast has improved since last year - we didnt eat evening meals so cant comment

All in all, a good base for a visit to the area with great people running it

Have just come back from a great 'stay-cation' at the Anchorage in Babbacombe. I saw an advert in the national press and thought, at that price its worth a go! I had a wonderful room overlooking the pool. We spent most of my time by the pool, which was beautifully clean and rarely used, we had it almost all to ourselves most days. The staff were all very pleasant and attentive and the food was good too.

All in all I can't fault it and shall be booking again next year!

Lovely hotel with great staff - well localed a short stroll from Babbacombe downs and Oddicombe Beach. Entertainment (quality) most nights and the food is excellent (good choice too!) It may only be a 2w star property... but this is a sad under-rating in my mind!

Clean smart hotel in Babbacombe, Torquay. It is used regularly by the coach firm who organised the trip i went on.
Friendly helpful staff, meals are served quickly with no fuss in a nice dining room, at tables varying in size from seating 2 to 6 people.
There is a bar with a dance floor, and lots of comfy armchairs to use while watching the evening's entertainment which varies each night. Although i could hear the singing in my room which was above the bar, it was not particularly loud and stopped about 11 pm so there was no problem in getting to sleep.
My twin bed room was spacious, though i only wanted a single and as they were all taken i had to pay an extra £15 per night. The room had a view over the flat roof, and the
bowling green across the road. It had plenty of storage space, en-suite bathroom, tea making facilities, clock/radio and hairdryer.
The only problem i had was using the stairs, as i have limited mobility. As the brochure said there was a lift i didn't request a ground floor room, but it turned out that only one side of the building had a lift, and i was in the wrong side. Luckily i was on the first floor not the second, and although it took a long time i was able to manage them. Several of the other guests had the same problem, so next time we will book ground floor rooms.
As well as the bowling green there are tennis courts across the road, and several parks within a five minute walk. The hotel is also within walking distance of Babbacombe Model Village.
Smoking is not allowed in the building or even in the grounds, but there is a wall mounted ashtray beside the entrance.
There is also a swimming pool but as i didn't use it i can't give any details about it.
Well thought out disabled toilet on the ground floor.
Unable to comment on the value as i don't know how much it cost per night. It was included in the price of the trip.
Choice of dishes for breakfast and dinner, good food, vegetarian options available.
