The station buildings have changed very little on the outside since it opened in the 19th century and has a old-fashioned feel about the place. There is an excellent café on the arrivals platform where the booking office can also be found. The taxi rank is also located via the booking hall to the right as you leave the station building. Seating is located on both platforms. However whilst there is a footbridge linking the two platforms, access for passengers with mobility difficulties is only available via the nearby road bridge if needing to transfer from one platform to the other. As I always book in advance, I always ask the taxi drivers (who I find very helpful) to drop me at what's known as departures when travelling towards Newton Abbot as this avoids the road bridge.
I should like to also state that the station staff are very helpful and show great patience with all passengers but I would recommend booking assistance in advance.
