Stayed here with my girlfriend and my parents for a long weekend. The views from our apartment were fantastic and we managed to watch the red arrows and power boat race from our balcony, which was a real bonus as we did not realised that either of these were on.

The room itself was pretty dated, however the bed was comfy enough. Only problem I had with the room was that the towels were not fresh, just recycled by drying them on the towel rail every day. Maybe trying to be eco-friendly, but 3 days was a bit much.

The leisure facilities were ok but again very dated

Staff were not particularly friendly or efficient and spoke with limited English. The service was very poor. Breakfast was ok, other than the fact that you had to clear your own plates! The evening meals took so long that we were still there when they were setting up for breakfast and the menu seems to be the same every night. On the second evening the fire alarm (causing an hour break outside in between the starter and the main course) really didn’t help matters. Management were not apologetic or did they attempt to explain the situation during or after the incident. Furthermore there was no clear instruction on exiting the building and a number of fire exits seemed to remain locked, consequently the entire building exited through the main entrance, rather than the nearest exit. In addition the staff were clearly ill equipped to deal with the situation and thus people congregated at the immediate entrance as opposed to a muster point. Another fire alarm (this time false) being sounded at 8am the following day was not welcomed!

All in all, a disappointing experience and one that will not be repeated.

Room Tip: Sea view is a must...

Went for an offer, two night B&B with dinner on first night. Already decided to go for more expensive sea-views, then found we had been upgraded to a corner suite, with astounding views from the living-area balcony and from the bedroom.
Unfortunately a fire alert on the first evening meant a slight hiatus during dinner -- the staff were very efficient getting everyone out, including some guests in wheelchairs. Felt sorry for the wedding party and the bride in her wedding dress, but then she did get a photo opportunity with the chaps from the four attendant fire engines!
Outdoor pool and views fabulous, loved the food despite some crossed wires and limited availability after the fire alarm. But staff were courteous and efficient and agreed to let us have just one or two courses in the main restaurant when the bar couldn't provide food.
Period decor, polite efficient staff, lovely four poster bed, and stunning views! Would stay again, as long as we could get the same room!

I chose this Hotel as a result of a previous stays , this being our fourth visit. An email from Puma Hotels alerted me to the Red Arrows Package break which included Dinner, Bed and Breakfast including a Bottle of Champagne and Canapés in your room for the Red Arrows Display. On arrival after a pleasant journey with our neighbours [ We Reccomeded this break to them ] we were greeted by a very friendly, helpful and efficient Reception Staff who were coping with a very busy influx of arrivals at that time stating that the Hotel was full. The Reception Manager sorted our bookings for our rooms. Again a huge room with all facilities spotlessly clean and well presented [ although a little tired in some areas ]. The facilities at the hotel are excellent and the food is top notch compliments to your Chef with his varied and extensive menu. In fact the evening meals are an experience to enjoy accompanied by a pleasant bottle of wine . It was pleasing to note the upgraded furniture and tableware in the dining room since our last visit in February. All the food including breakfast was top notch !!. All staff we met including our Chambermaid, Gareth and his Restaurant Staff together with Reception were exceptional well presented and mannered again a credit to the Hotel management. We thoroughly enjoyed our three night stay , together with our Complimentary Bottle of Champagne and Canapés whilst watching the Red Arrows Display. We look forward to returning very soon for our fifth visit.

Room Tip: Always book a Sea View Room well worth the extra few pounds for the fantastic views Torquay Harbour...

Fantastic- our best visit so far! From check in to check out we were greeted by friendly, polite staff who offer professional service throughout. Our room was beautiful ( view amazing) and have absolutely no complaints whatsoever. Breakfast and dinner lovely, great choice and although we had a minor blip with dinner Thursday evening it was dealt with immediately and professionally by the restaurant manager. The Red Arrows display was truly amazing, champagne and canapés were the icing on the cake as we watched from our balcony.

Chose this hotel as it is literally on the sea- views from rooms and restaurant fantastic!! Also Agatha Christie used the hotel in at least one of her crime novels. It wascertainly worth paying the extra for the room we had at the top with panoramic views and a balcony. We were lucky with the weather and we lay reading on the balcony sun loungers overlooking the sea and gardens. The room was great with all we needed and it was very spacious and comfortable. The food in the restaurant is very good and again the view wonderful. Drinks as per usual pricey.Staff all helpful and friendly.Everywhere in Torquay walkable to from the hotel. The only gripe was the £7 per day car parking fee which seemed rather mean spirited to us and is never stipulated on the website.

Room Tip: In this case it really is worth paying extra for a sea view above the first floor.

My husband & I stayed at the hotel and we requested a balcony so that we could celebrate Regatta week in style and see the firework display over Torbay and the Red Arrows show ,we were not disappointed.

Our room was spacious and clean.Coffee and tea facilites and lovely biscuits were provided and every day a bottle of still and sparkling mineral were also provided.

We requested a non-smoking room and the sign on the door had the relevant no smoking symbol and we were happy that the rooms next to us also had the symbol as we thought at least we would not smell cigarette smoke.

But,the people next door to us did not respect this and smoked on their balcony and as non-smokers this was irritating when the smell of cigarette drifted towards our room and we had to close the balcony door on several occasions.

We have mentioned this in our feedback to the hotel. Otherwise the service the food and the staff were very helpful and we had no complaints otherwise.

We have stayed at this hotel at least 3 times and have always been happy with everything. The hotel is a couple of hundred yards walking distance from the harbour and town, there is a steep hill from the hotel to get there (it's ok going down) a bit challenging walking back up, but good to keep you fit and burn off the calories of the cream teas and the food from the numerous restaurants, if you can bear to pull yourself away from the lovely surrounds of the hotel building, the swimming pools and SPA and beautiful grounds then try the cuisine in the town especially the Thai restaurant at the bottom of the hill.

Room Tip: We recommend Room 149 if you want the end room and balcony with a panoramic sea view it is on the Me...
