Always very good. Excellent surroundings, polite service. The food is very good and well-prepared and the scones are to die for.

“Best avoided.”
Reviewed August 25, 2012

We have used Serendipity in the past because it is located in an area with limited choice of cafes. It looks pleasant from the outside and the decor good. However its cake offer while being reasonable is expensive. Its range of coffees is as usual but the quality is poor when compared to the standard chain coffee shops. Also being based in the service sector and trying to charge a premium price it cannot afford poor service . We waited for over 20 minutes to have our order taken and the coffee/tea and cake to arrive. Serendipity is not a large cafe. Then as you can imagine we were not in the best of spirits. A family of five sitting in front of us left before ordering because of the long wait, despite there being four people working in the cafe. I do not think their leaving the establishment was even noted by the staff. Generally the organisation does not have a system to deal successfully with customers. There is a place in Torquay centre for a premium cafe where people wouold pay a higher price to obtain fine food/coffee and service. This type of establishment is definitely not Serendipity. Hence my recommendation to avoid until they get their act together

“A little gem”

Today we had the fortune to find serendipity. The food was very tasty and beautifully presented. The decor within the restaurant was lovely and extremely clean. The staff were very friendly and the icing on the cake was the price.

“Always a joy”
Reviewed August 16, 2012

We are regular visitors to this super patisserie, the staff are always so friendly and helpful, the pastries are to die for always good coffee or lovely loose leaf tea. We've also had the Croque Monsieur which is delicious. We cannot praise this little gem, enough. Highly recommended.
