We stayed for Christmas Eve, Day and Boxing Day as a couple with teenage daughter and elderly mum and a small dog. We had Pebble Cottage and a room in the hotel. The cottage and room were both delightful - hotel room with wonderful sea views plus french windows and balcony. The cottage was brilliant for family plus dog, dog bed and bowl set out, a real fire laid and ready to light daily, sea view from the bath (!) and personal, gated terrace /garden. The hotel lounge is small but perfectly formed and felt more like staying in a private house - well supplied with chocs. fruit, nuts and nut crackers. Generous hampers (ours even had doggy supplies) and decanter of sloe gin were a lovely touch. Food was excellent, staff young, friendly and attentive. As a challenging family combo. we were all very happy and would love to return. As a Christmas break it was a fresh and unstuffy alternative to a more trad. "plush and gilt with side order of claustrophobia" hotel break but no less luxurious and clearly would be great in summer too.

We walked our dog along the Beach Road in Babbacombe and decided to call in for a drink, we were greeted by very friendly staff who had no problem in accepting our black lab (they even had treats and menu for him!) As we are both generally not fish eaters we decided to order fish off the menu -we were not disappointed, the meal was outstanding. We then decided to have desserts and coffee outside on the terrace overlooking the bay, this was very well presented again and delicious. We are looking forward to our return and hopefully an overnight stay!
Top marks all around this was "OUTSTANDING" and thanks for a memorable experience.

We were lucky enough to be invited by a friend to spend her birthday weekend in one of the lovely cottages at The Cary Arms. We, a group of 8, were all very impressed with the Cottage, the welcome, the food, the bar, the staff, the location, the decor, the attitude... – well, all of it really!

This is a great and stylish hostelry where everything is beautifully presented and nothing is too much trouble for the staff. We had 2 dogs with us who also had a pawfect weekend with walks along the cliffs and beach, their own menu, a bowl of treats on arrival and an enormous dog-bed. Love the quirks, love the location, love the place - would highly recommend.

Room Tip: Take a group of friends and book a cottage

Have just returned from a 2 day stay at The Cary Arms & wish we were still there!! To be quite honest this isnt our first trip but our first report to Trip Advisor. The Cary Arms is truly a special and magical place being in a brilliant location with amazing views, warm and extremely cosy, absolutely spotless and the staff are so friendly and are like one big happy family who look after your every need!!! The food is first class which cant be faulted and the beer is local and rather good!! The wine list also includes a local white wine which is very good with the fish. We always take our dog in stay in Rear Admiral which is a doggy friendly room and doggies are looked after just as well as the humans!!!! The room has a great huge comfy bed and a powerful shower as well as a bath with lovely BIG soft fluffy towels everyday. To look out of the room and see the sea which looks different every day is a treat. The wonderful terrace overlooking the bay is always clean and tidy and sitting outside even in the winter wrapped up is great!! Looking forward to our next visit already!!!
