Service, breakfast & location was very good.
Facilities above average
Infrastructure seriously outdated; squeaky floorboards, very small bathroom (weak shower & the sink was in bedroom), small room in general, TV was very old and not a clear picture. No hairdryer.
Large car park we found it easy to find a space.
Please note the bars at the hotel do not accept card payments & available cash machine in the reception charges £1.50 for withdrawals.

This is the second year we have visited the Derwent Hotel for a bowls tournament. Apart from the bowling facilities which are very good the other facilities are also very good indeed. The pool in particular is very inviting. Food and services excellent, room smallish but just refurbished although a shelf in the bathroom would have been appreciated. Apart from this small cricitism the whole holiday was a great success.

This is the second year that we have come on this trip to the Derwent Hotel for a five day bowling break. Our Bowling Club (Angel Indoor Bowls club, Tonbridge) has been coming to the Derwent for many years now, which is a recommendation on its own.
The rooms are basic but clean. The food is excellent both in presentation and choice, especially for the price paid.
The bowling is very well organized and the bowling rinks are very well maintained. This year they had installed a new blue carpet.
The entertainment is also very good in the evenings and comparable to any seaside theatre show. The comedian could do with some new jokes though, rather than reel out the same ones year after year.
The Hotel is desperately in need of refurbishment in certain areas, especially on the stairways although it did look as though they had started just before we left.
One thing that did annoy us while we were there was that the staff commandeered ALL the guest lifts while they were transporting beds up to some bedrooms. This happened on a number of occassions. It would have been more customer friendly for them to have only used one lift and left the other lift for the use of the guests while displaying a notice to that effect.
