Charmingly aged, ideal location for seaside walks and for curing midwinter blues. We stayed as part of Rock Bottoms Tango weekend and it was really great. Hospitable, welcoming and good food. Enthusiastic staff more than compensated for lack of luxury. Will definitely come again for more of the same.

We thoroughly enjoyed this stay at the Derwent Hotel. The breakfast, evening meals and dining room staff were excellent. As always, we enjoyed the pool facilities and the afternoon quiz, tea-time, bingo and evening entertainment. It was a shame that Kevin of KB Sounds was ill, but Zoe Harris quickly arranged a change of entertainment. The room was immaculately cleaned as always.
Unfortunately we had to leave the night before our departure date due to the severe weather on the 18th.

We, my partner and I have been several times to this hotel for dance week-ends. It is not luxurious as it is only a 2/3 star.
But, if you are carrying out an activity there as we were, (Argentine Tango) then it is entirely suitable.
The food whilst not gourmet is very palatable. There is a large indoor swimming pool and, two outdoor ones.
Also there is a full size indoor bowling green, the hotel is connected to three other hotels, the Victoria , the Toorak, and the Carlton these are possibly of a higher standard.
We have always taken the view that if we are busy night and day dancing then, we only sleep and eat in the hotel and are completely satisfied with it's facilities.
We would recommend TLH leisure as a good base to holiday in Devon.

Room Tip: Ask for a superior room, they weren't much extra and well worth it. As the standard rooms are a...

We have visited the Derwent hotel for many years. We usually go on the all inclusive break in January with 20+ friends. We have a laugh by dressing up one night in fancy dress, nobody knows what the others are going as. We always have a fantastic time there. The rooms are always lovely and clean, and you get maid service daily. The food is first class, and the bar and restaurant staff are very friendly, nothing is too much trouble. The swimming pool is great, you can enjoy a jacuzzi, sauna or go in the steam room. We have lots of fun with our group of friends in the games room where you can play table tennis, pool, snooker, bowling and all sorts of other games. We usually have competitions between ourselves and forfeits for the losers. The quiz on the afternoon is also very good. It's all great fun.
We arrived early, but they let us all have our rooms straight away which was great. We can't believe it is only a 2 star, it is definately worth a 3 star.

Stayed for two nights with a party. Checked in quickly with reception but the place is like a rabbit warren and eventually found our room - more by luck. Ran into doors with wet paint on the way, not aways signed - shame they had not left painting fire doors in corridors until they were less busy. However, the room was ideal - tea and coffee making facilities, tv, nice shower room and beds were comfortable, but no hairdryer so glad I had thought to bring my own. Food the whole weekend was VERY good with excellent service. We used the pool a lot - what a marvelous size for a hotel and the jacuzzi and sauna were great too although the steam room was out of action following a power cut soon after we arrived so we couldn't try that. The smaller pool for youngsters was ideal too and the family sized changing rooms were brilliant. Only one addition needed - a mini spin dryer for costumes so they will dry in your room overnight ready for your next swim! Then a third star will be in order.
