Staff were fantastic and the food exceptional. Entertainment was good although at age 44 I did think I was the youngest in the hotel so you need to enjoy the old time singing! If not there is always 10 pin bowling, the fantastic swimming pool, aztec bar or a game of snooker / pool or two. A great short break but it went by far too fast!

The staff are very helpful always speak to someone if you have a problem and they will sort it, don't think someone will know about your problem and then have a bad opion of the hotel if its not sorted, they will always help if they know you have a problem.
I have been takeing a coach party to this hotel since 2002 and it gets better every year. The food is fab the entertainment is excellent every night of the week and the rooms are comfy. The only downfall is there are only 2 lifts and they are very slow and not central to the rooms

Room Tip: rear rooms are less noisier

The hotel staff in all departments were polite, efficient and well presented, the room was satisfactory and the food excellent. The only downside was the floor show, most enthusiastic but lacked polish. I may return on another coach trip to see more of the area.

We have visited the Derwent on several occasions as a family group and have never been disappointed, the staff are really nice, the food is excellent and the accommodation is very good. The amenities are also really good, the aztec pool is lovely. We look forward to visiting again in August, our party keeps growing as all the family are keen to see what we keep raving about! Our kids wouldnt forgive us if we didnt have our annual trip now!

We stayed in the Derwent Hotel May Half-Term, 2 adults, one OAP, 1 nineteen year old, 1 fourteen year old and 1 nine year old.

When we arrived having parked the car and entering the hotel from the back (which is never a good entrance to any hotel), we did wonder if we had made a good choice, the smell of chlorine from the pool hit you as we desended down the thread bare in parts carpet. When we went up to our rooms, one twin and one family the stairway was very narrow, the rooms were dated and could do with re-decoration and the family room was small, but I can honestly say we will certainly be going back and have recommended the complex to a number of family and friends. The kids loved it and believe me with two teenagers in tow that is no mean feat, we have never come across such friendly helpful staff either staying here or abroad, the service and food in the restaurant were far above our expectations (running our own business supplying pubs and restaurants we appreciate good value). The hotels are all linked and so if the weather is bad this does not spoil the holiday, we did find the bar and Aztec Bistro pricey though, the Aztec Pool was lovely, we used the tennis courts, the arena games room a lot as the boys were happy playing pool, the ten pin bowling was very good value and there was plently for them to do. My daughter enjoyed the beauty treatments, especially the fish, we didn't use the pool as it was too cold, the entertainment at night was mixed but for the money we paid we really couldn't fault the holiday. The brummie comedian was very good and also starred in the local theatre production at Babbacome, which although aimed at the 70 plus range was a good night out. Well done to all the staff at the hotel , they are what made the holiday so enjoyable. The main part of Torquay is about a 10 min walk and we also played pitch an putt which is just round the corner. Plenty of shops and places to eat in Torquay. We did however find the rooms extremely hot at night and if you opened the windows it was too noisy from the road. I have tried to write a very honest review but please do not be put off by any negative comments , if you want good value for money in a clean hotel with good food and exceptional service from the staff we would certainly reccommend this hotel complex
