Premier Inn Torquay Hotel
Ranked #18 of 85 Hotels in Torquay
Reviewed June 6, 2010

I stayed here with my wife and nine year old son for five nights in May/June 2010. The hotel enjoys an excellent location by Torquay seafront, with a footbridge conveniently located for access to the beach.
From the moment we checked in, we were very impressed with the friendly and efficient service provided by all the staff. On entering our room we found that our son's sofa bed had not been made up, but when we contacted Reception, this was rectified immediately.
Our family room was located just over the entrance to the hotel, where we occasionally heard people hanging around for a smoke and a chat at night after they left the bar, but this was nothing which particularly disturbed us or warranted a complaint.
We took breakfast daily in the adjoining Beefeater restaurant where the service was excellent and the generous “eat as much as you like” buffet provided everything we needed and more. Breakfast was served from 8-10 Saturday to Monday and 7-9:30 the rest of the week, and we found the service just as good regardless of whether we arrived towards the beginning or the end of that window.
Apart from breakfast, we didn't use the Beefeater, but we did take an evening meal and a lunch in the hotel bar, where we were more than happy with the quality and service provided. We visited at what must be one of the busiest times of year, but did not have to wait more than twenty minutes for our food to be served.
Car parking was easy. On arrival, you are issued with a voucher to display in your windscreen which entitles you to free parking for the duration of your stay, and we always found plenty of space available during the six days we were there.
We intend to return to the Torbay area more frequently in the future, and will certainly consider booking the Premier Inn again.

i havent stayed at this hotel yet but i have tried to book a £29/room that is widely advertised on the website.. but no luck. i have spoke with the reception staff at the hotel who cannot give me a date at to when this offer would apply. they say i should manually check everydate in the year ..what nonsense..!!! if you advertise such a rate then at least have the rooms available!!.. i think this goes against the advertising laws in the country and i will be speaking to WHICH about this ... and if premierr in decided to reply to this message at least leave an email so i can talk to you directly!!

As always premier inns comes up trumps with there hotels . Torquay is good location good parking and lovely rooms and peaceful at night.

We stayed at easter for 3 nights and cannot fault the actual hotel and it's rooms .

However the breakfast and dinner service lets the hotel down badly .
We use premier all the time so are well used to there restuarant brands and there breakfasts .
We recieved a tex message good friday morning asking if we wanted to book a table for dinner , our reply was yes and we duly recieved a confirmation tex to say table for two had been reserved .
When we arrived at the resturant at our reserved time it became clear the manager did not have have the reservation .
But instead of talking to us the customer he ignored us and spoke with his staff .
The conversation, to another member of staff went something like, '' oh tell them place is busy and they will have to wait ''
I asked him is the case the reservation was not recieved , he ignored me and said in a whisper to another member of staff we never get the bloody tex reservations .

I felt the manager in the restuarant was very unproffessional and should have spoken with us the customer and not ignored us .
Strangely despite the manager rudeness we were served fairly quickly and the food was not delayed .
Also at breakfast we saw one manager treating staff rudely and in front of customers .
On the monday morning the english breakfast was passable .

It is a shame that the restuarant lets the hotel down with its rude managers and bad customer service .
this is not the first time that restuarant has given us poor service . When hotel first openned service was slow and we had similiar excuses about busy and such like . I would have thought they would have sorted out the problems by now .

However the Hotel itself is good and the rooms excellent it is a real shame that like other locations of premier inn the restuarants let them down badly

This Premier Inn is conveniently located to the harbour, being a 5 minute walk away. The beach is directly opposite with a short walk across the road. Shops are a 10 to 15 minute walk away. Car parking is free and after check in a ticket given in which to display in your car. All staff are very helpful and friendly. The overall service was faultless, the breakfast value for money especially if you have children and the food in both the restaurant and bar reasonably priced.
The family room was spotless and spacious although one of the single beds was quite small and would not be big enough for a child aged 13-16 unless they were on the small size. For example my 12 year old son, the size of an 8 year old fitted comfortably.

As the room was situated on the side of a side road there was a little traffic noise early in the morning but nothing could be heard at night, so next time I would request another room location to ensure a peaceful morning. The noise was nothing to complain about for a refund.

We would certainly return to this Premier Inn.

Stayed for 3 nights in February and really enjoyed the hotel. The location is fantastic, right on the seafront and an easy walk along the front to the various attractions of Torquay. As it was half term, there were quite a few families staying but it seemed quiet at night. Although you cannot request a sea view room on booking, we were lucky enough to get one and the view is really 5 star. The bar and restaurant also have good views and are standard Beefeater fare. If I have any criticism, it is that the bar service can be a bit chaotic at busy times and tables can take a while to be cleared. This is also the case at breakfast but was not really a great problem. I have booked to go back again in April and think it is good value.

This hotel very nearly had it all. It is well presented, perfectly located and the welcome we received from the receptionist on duty was one of the friendliest I have ever experienced anywhere. The food and service in the attached restaurant could not be faulted. The room was clean and functional as all Premier Inn rooms are, but wih one fatal flaw. The traffic noise on this side of the hotel kept us both awake virtually all night and at 6.00am this was augmented by the sound of what I think must have been an extraction system from the kitchen below. Premier Inn stuck to their guarantee and refunded the cost of our room. We would stay here again, but not on the side of the hotel that is alongside the road.
